For auction is one vintage Pollock-style Steelcase conference chair from the 1970s or early 80s. It is in excellent original condition. It has its original wool blend orange upholstery. Gleaming chrome arms and base, and a dark brown plastic shell. The upholstery is clean but does have a few light stains; one on the top edge near the back, another lighter one toward the top of the front, and some discoloration around the arm pads. As you can see from the photos, however, all very minor. The chrome has been polished and is nearly flawless, though there is a small, quarter-inch dent on the column as well as a similar-sized small dark spot a couple inches above it. There is some light wear at the very top edge of the plastic back, as well as a few light, longer scratches on the back(very common to these chairs) The base rests on five glides, ... morebut these could be switched out with casters. Vintage Kelly Green Steelcase Arm Chair, Swivel Base, Adjustable, on Casters
Very cool vintage MCM desk chair in fabulous kelly green nubby fabric(most likely wool) No label but most likely by Steelcase. And after the Charles Pollock Executive Chair for Knoll(without the buttons on the back) The fabric is a thick weave in a great, bold shade of green, most likely wool. The base is chrome(needs a little steel wool love, but in good shape) There is a handle beneath the seat to control the tilt. Good vintage condition. Upholstery needs a good vacuuming or ideally steam cleaning— but no tears or rips to fabric. And no major stains. Biggest“concern” is the rubber trim on the backside upper edge got too close to something hot and melted in a 2" segment(see photos) Still has tons of life left. Made of bentwood walnut and brushed stainless steel, sat during five decades in the Press Room of the Albuquerque Journal Tribune. Notes on events such as the Watergate scandal and pivotal moments in the Cold War were recorded by innumerable reporters seated on this chair. The Presidencies of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama- This fantastic writing chair/ desk has helped record them all. The quality of Steelcase manufacturing is second to none in the world. And this amazing piece is no exception. Incredibly strong and versatile, it features an industrial strength hinge with locking clasp and latching release mechanism, allowing the writing surface to be placed in an ... moreupright position, for use as a chair or for greater ease in sitting up or down without obstruction. Removing every screw and detachable component, carefully cleaning and polishing the stainless steel, and cleaning and resealing the bentwood walnut before reassembly. The only indications of wear are the slight indentations made in the seating surface from car keys and pens pressed through pants pockets over the decades, and some light surface abrasions on the edging of the writing surface.
