Up for auction is a beautiful vintage Herman Miller Eames Lounge Chair. Model 670 and 671. This particular set has a gorgeous, deep, dark, Brazilian rosewood shell with nice grain. The chair and ottoman are both in brown leather and have aged magnificently. Background: Around 1971. Herman Miller made a few changes to the Eames lounge and ottoman in order to make it a better functioning and longer lasting chair. They changed the clips from the round clip style to longer black clips. They changed the cardboard backing to a plastic fiberboard, changed the cushion filling, and soon changed the label from a round medallion to a rectangular black label. This ... morechair appears to have been made right around 1971. Before 1971, cushions were almost always down and goose feather filled. After the mid 70's I believe, the cushions were generally all foam. During this time, however, one often finds cushions that have a mix of both foam and down. These cushions are part down and part foam. This delivers the great comfort of down cushions, without giving off the sagging appearance after a few years. Cushions: Overall. The cushions are in wonderful shape. There are a no real scratches that I can see, no cat scratches, and no tears. The leather is supple, clean, and in better condition than any older chair I've owned. I can only spot a couple of areas where the topcoat or whatever finish they originally used came off and those are 1-4 millimeters in diameter. The fiberboard backings look great and strong. It is consistent. The armrests have aged well and show expected wear for their age. They are both supple as well. Wood: The rosewood shells are in excellent condition. This chair is in vary good condition for it's age. Early model with the(3) brio dots and a Z in the middle(pictured) I took pictures of the worse spots on the chair. Not really that bad. Besides that. The chair is in great condition and it looks beautiful. Purchased from the original owner. The base is not perfect, but it does not have any rust. I also took a picture of the letters AX stamp on the front part of the chair, I believe that this is DAX model(dinning& desk chair) from the early models. EAMES ALEXANDER GIRARD DIAMOND CHECKER FABRIC Zenith OCHRE Chair Herman Miller!
For your consideration is one(1) super rare EAMES early Zenith fiberglass armshell in lovely ochre or tan covered with a stunning Alexander Girard-designed diamond and checkerboard fabric seat cover. Mounted on a vintage Eiffel base sans glides. An amazing collector's chair. Ideal for Eames and/or Girard fans. Every part of this chair is vintage. Overall great condition for a piece that's about six decades old. The vintage Eiffel base has typical rust and oxidation and one rod has a very slight bend but isn't too noticeable at first glance. There's some typical wear on the fabric cover. As depicted. All the shock mounts of the Zenith armshell are original. But the 2 rear ones were reinforced by epoxy by the original owner, with some residual staining in the center bottom, which can be removed with the proper cleaner. Surface ... moredirt and soiling on the cover, which can likely be steam cleaned away. The cushion is petrified and isn't as soft as it used to be, but as far as we know from our experience, these seat covers weren't very plush to begin with, the way the naugahyde and fabric upholstered chairs were. As depicted, there's some thread fraying and wear notably along the top edge and a bit of lifting near the rear of the cover, the latter of which looks like it could be ironed and/or blow dried flat, but we're leaving it exactly as found. These imperfections are already reflected in the price. Comparable Eames Girard chairs have gone for $3,600 on other sites, and the design of this Girard cover is far more attractive and striking and the ochre armshell far rarer than the ones we've seen that have sold in that range. The seams over the cover are still tight. The full wiring along the perimeter is complete with no breaks, and there are no cracks or chips to the fiberglass armshell, which is structurally sound. Eames Lounge Chair by Herman Miller. Distressed condition. Though it is solid and completely usable. Really like a worn pair of jeans. It may look rough. But. When you sit in it, you are sitting in an authentic Eames Lounge Chair by Herman Miller. Very comfortable. Be the first in your neighborhood to sport the worn out Eames Lounge chair. 2 Panels are 1970's rosewood. Middle Panel is a 1990's Herman Miller walnut replacement. All panels have been dyed and sanded and bleached twice. Base separates into 2 pieces. Stem and Star. Though completely load bearing. Armrests are worn through. FABULOUS VINTAGE EAMES HERMAN MILLER LOUNGE CHAIR AND OTTOMAN IN WARM BROWN LEATHER WITH WALNUT WOOD FRAME LOCAL PICKUP PHOENIX ARIZONA AREA This auction offers a vintage Eames Herman Miller lounge chair and ottoman in warm chocolate brown with what I think is a walnut wood frame. This is an authentic Herman Miller Eames chair. Likely dating to the late 1970s or early 1980s. It comes from a local estate where it was used but lovingly cared for. If you settle down into this soft, supple leather chair and put your feet up on the ottoman, you won't ever want to sit in anything else. It's wonderfully comfortable, not to mention very stylish for today's modern tastes. The leather on the set is in excellent condition except at the arms where there is wear and a bit of rubbing with discoloration where hands will rest. The leather is ... morenot broken or damaged, just shows evidence of prior wear. The wood on the back of the headrest has two vertical scratches that will probably be easily fixed with a bit of wood treatment. Up for sale is a lovely set of four(4) vintage original EAMES Herman Miller fiberglass side shells consisting of: 1 x DARK OLIVE/HUNTER GREEN 1 x YELLOW 1 x OCHRE 1 x PARCHMENT Beautiful complementary colors. All 4 shells have the"Herman Miller" logo embossment. The yellow and green have the desirable narrow mount configuration. The original shock mounts have detached(replacements are easily obtainable on this site) Selling as is. Both have the Herman Miller logo embossed on the underside as well as the backwards"Z" with the yellow having a Herman Miller inspection sticker with date stamp. The green is a bit of a chameleon in that it looks gray or brown under certain lighting. The color could be raw umber. Since it looks similar to a raw umber shell we used to have, but the overriding color is dark green, so it's more ... morelikely dark olive or army/hunter green. Overall great vintage condition with surface scratches and marks, as shown, but nothing to detract from the structural integrity of the shell. Early EAMES for HERMAN MILLER - Fiberglass Rocking Chair RAR Mid Century Rocker
Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller- RAR" Fiberglass Rocking Chair A hallmark of mid-century design. This Eames' fiberglass shell rocking chair is in very good condition for it's age. Color of shell is"light ochre" which looks like a butterscotch yellow or gold in some light, and a bit brighter in natural light. The wooden runners are stained a sort of medium brown to blonde. I believe this to be an early model, as it does not have an embossed stamp or sticker(may have had a sticker at one point, most likely the checked Herman Miller version, but has long since been removed) Because of this lack of markings and the plastic's translucency, I think this was produced by Herman Miller with Zenith plastics, but I cannot authenticate this myself. I can say for certain, however, that this is in fact from the early ... more50's, is NOT a modern reproduction, and that the base, rockers, and hardware are original to the piece. The shell is free of cracks or significant chips(does have some minor nicks along edges(see pic#9) and a small discoloration spot on the seat(see pic#11) The base has a black matte finish. Is structurally sound and in great condition. All of the hardware(screws, etc. are present, and do not appear to have ever been replaced or even loosened. The wooden runners are in good shape, with some expected nicks and marks along edges and bottoms(see pics#4,7,8) Shipping within the continental U.S. will be a flat rate of $100. Which will include packing and materials, and will be send via FedEx. If another shipping method is preferred, extra costs will be applied. Danish Modern BURKE 103 Chair Lot of 5 Like Herman Miller
Set of five Burke 103 Mid Century Danish Modern Style chairs from the 1960's. The color is dark blue with maroon cushions. The cushions are easily removable. Four screws attach them. These chairs would look amazing w/ a lighter color cushion. The Burke chairs greatly resemble vintage Herman Miller type chairs. Of which I own as well. All furniture has been stored, wraped in furniture blankets, in a climate controlled, non smoking home since 1970. They were owned by a New York City art collector whom retired to the midwest. Selling my very rare Herman Miller Eames designed LCW chair. Color is Aniline Red. It is in very good vintage condition with a minor chip to the back of the seat. Rubber shocks are 100% original and in good shape. Believe it to be from 1958. black stamp underneath with the# 58. 5 2 4 screw configuration. Most likely just after the switch from Evans production. Has a very light LCW stamped in the wood underneath. Unfortunately the Herman Miller tag fell off long ago: 100% original as found from the original owner who had many early Eames pieces. Chair has typical wear. See pics. Red Aniline dye is faded making it a very warm cherry color. much easier to see the red dye underneath. Beautiful chair! Bid with confidence! No chips or cracks in the fibreglass. The shockmounts are in good condition. Some minor scuffs here and there on the shell and some small discolouration but nothing serious. The contemporary version of this chair is made of polypropylene. Which in our opinion, is not a patch on these original fibreglass models, which age beautifully. Mid Century Modern Herman Miller Padded Shell Chair with original label
I have lots of Mid Century listed and more on the way. This is a great chair everyone knows who Herman Miller is this is the padded arm chair it is a bit unusual not only is it padded but also has material on the seat area instead of all padding. it is in good condition but has wear you would expect from an original that hasn't been restored some minor splits but nothing bad. Im sure the seat material could be cleaned but I just sell them as I find them. It is solid I weigh 245 and it held me fine and is very comfy this is a great design. The color will look great in any home or office. the logo is molded into the bottom and it also has an original paper label dated November 1971. I took 2 pics of the logo because first had good color but hard to see and second easy to see but looks very dull. Vintage Herman Miller Zenith Rope Edge LAX X Base Fiberglass Lounge Chair Eames
Early LAX Lounge Chair Designed by Ray& Charles Eames for Herman Miller. 1950s Early. Low version of with rope edge fiberglass shell by the Zenith Plastics company. Excellent overall Condition! No chips or cracks to the fiberglass. All original hockey puck shock mounts and harware. One of the foot glides is cracked but glued on. There are some light stains here and there and what looks to be some glaze loss on the upper right side. Please ask questions! Shipping quote is for the chair disassembled. Though we are reluctant to do so. Doesn't look like it's ever been tampered with and that can get tricky, will do so only at the request of the high bidder. HISTORY: Up for auction is a vintage Eames Herman Miller DSX( D ining or desk height) side chair with molded fiberglass shell in red orange color and zinc plated" H" base. The auction is for chair# 1 from the matching pair. The chair was designed by Charles Eames and manufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company. The shell rests on an zinc plated"wall protective" 4 legged" H" base complete with 4 original white self-leveling plastic glides. The base extends further out in the rear so the shell edge does not rub the wall. The chair is known for it's comfort and durability. The shell is produced from fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Originally. The fiberglass was being used during the war to reinforce plastic on airplane radar domes. In according to the Eames fiberglass contract shell colors catalogue, ... morethis color was specified as RO(Red Orange) The fiberglass shell has the narrow shock mounts configuration. This very 60's color is one of the most desirable and popular colors of the Eames fiberglass shells. CONDITION REPORT: This chair is in very good for its age vintage condition. The shell is clean. Displays fiber very nicely and still retains it's original gleaming luster. The color is vivid and bright with no fading. Some very min. wear to the edge and surface of the shell(scratching, small nicks) Nothing major but we have to mention this for the accuracy of the description. Looks very nice! The original gel coating is intact. The small shock mounts are in good original condition with no"bleeding" and have NOT been re-glued. The chair has many authentic marking including rare Z(for Zenith Plastics) Herman Miller raised logo. S with a circle around(for Summits Plastic in Kalamazoo, MI) a letter B, and finally, its original Herman Miller Furniture Company(Zeeland, Michigan) paper label as proof of it's authenticity. HISTORY: Up for auction is a vintage original 1st Year Production Charles Eames Herman Miller Arm Shell Rocker RAR. The rocking chair comes with a beautiful full rope edge shell in Elephant Hide Gray color and on an original black strut rocking base with early birch runners. This rocking chair was designed by Charles Eames and manufactured by the Herman Miller Furniture Company and Zenith Plastic Co. in the 1950s and is known for it's comfort and durability. The shell is produced from fiberglass-reinforced plastic. Originally. The fiberglass was being used during the war by Zenith Plastics to reinforce plastic on airplane radar domes. In according to the Eames fiberglass standard shell colors catalogue, this color was specified as EG(Elephant Hide Gray) This very 50's color is one of the rarest and most desirable color of the Eames ... morefiberglass shells. CONDITION REPORT: The rocking chair is in very good vintage condition. Every part of the rocker is 100% original. The fiberglass shell is very clean. Showing a very strong FIBER PATTERN and still retain its original beautiful gleaming luster. The color is still very vivid and bright with no fading. There are no breaks or cracks of any kind. The early wide shock mounts have absolutely no"bleeding" through the seat and have not been re-glued. It looks like the upper right corner of the shell had a scratch and it was successfully buffed off(please view photos attached) You can barely see them but we have to mention it for the accuracy of the description. There is some very minor edge wear which is normal for chairs of this age. Other than that, the rocker is in very good vintage and looks great! The shell still retains the original Herman Miller label as proof of it's authenticity.
