HERE IS One Ajustrite metal drafting stool shop chair made by Ajusto Equipment in the industrial toledo uhl era 1940-1950s style. Material is steel. With the original worn brown finish. The makers stamp is present on the seat underside. Its in as found condition. And can be used as is. I did some light cleaning to it. But the seat could be sanded and painted or clear coated. This is a heavy duty factory type item. Dimensions in inches: 16 wide at the feet x 13 seat diameter. The seat height adjusts from 17.5 to 25.5 Weighs 10-15 pounds. Will fit in a 18 x 18 x 18 box. For lower shipping costs Condition: Its got its original brown steel finish. Which is mostly worn away. Its not bent or flawed. But could use a seat refinish. A very cool estate find to offer. Super solid construction. Screw adjustable height. Wood seat frame shows wear from daily use. Once upon a time. Original caning is weakening in spots but still has life left. I am 180 lbs and have been using it for last few weeks as occasional chair. And a cane seat. The cane seat has just been re-woven and the wood surfaces have been refinished. I'd describe the condition as very good, but not perfect. I'm guessing that this chair is close to 100 years old. It's a very veray early drafting chair. This is an extremely unique piece. I've bought and sold a number of these.many of them later Toledo models from the 40's and 50's. However. I have never seen one quite like this with the cane seat and spindle-back. The chair has no maker's markings other than an"S" on the cast iron support piece. The mechanics are reasonably sound. The chair is still solidly constructed, ... moreand it is in good vintage condition. There is a locking ring that must be raised to allow the chair to freely swivel. If, in the down position, it keeps the chair from rotating. The desk has three large functioning drawers across the front, each with a key hole(and no, I don't have the keys) It is in nice condition with great patina, though the top has some staining. UHL Steel Toledo, Ohio" The seats and back are molded plywood in a walnut finish. Wood has some tiny scratching. The wood backs have patina from the metal rivots. One back has a small bubble in it. Both are adjustable. The bottoms have original green paint. There is a lot of paint loss on the legs. There is very minimal rust. One has a missing bolt in the corner of the adjustable seat. New old stock from 1983. Made in American by Lyon Metal Products, swivel adjustable height industrial drafting/office stool. Gray steel frame with maple wood seat and back. The seat height will adjust from 20" to 26" high. The height of the seat back will adjust as well. The seat measures 15 1/4" by 15 1/4" the base is 15" by 14" wide. Unused, unsold store stock, dated 1983. In great condition, only very minor signs of age from storage and handling. Light scuffs and marks, a small crack or two in the wood from age. The black plastic knob on the back that adjusts the back rest has been painted gray. The gray paint is starting to chip and peel. I purchased this drafting table and chair set a number of years ago. I used it as furniture for my 16" dolls(see first photo) but as you can see. The chair is too big for a 16" doll. The set appears to have been made for 18" dolls. The lamp adjusts but doesn't light up. The table has levers underneath on either side to adjust the tilt angle of the table. The chair swivels around. Vintage Toledo drafting stool/ chair fresh from the offices of an old printing shop that closed down. I have listed this stool as#1 because I have 3 other similar stools currently listed from the same office. Original as found condition. The wood is a light shade and has no chips. Some scratches. The original battleship gray paint is worn where you would expect from normal use. Very sturdy and has no repairs. Some scratches. Scuffs, and pitting. The height can be adjusted from 24" all the way up to 29" by changing the position of the wishbone shaped mechanism under the seat. UHL Toledo Art Steel Industrial Drafting Chair with Very Rare Details
This chair is different than any UHL chair I've seen before in that the footrest is attached to the legs by a small bracket. Something they must have done for just a year or so. Others have"Clunky" brackets holding the footrest that take away from the amazing and timeless form of this antique chair. Also unique is the brass nametag on the back of the backrest instead of the sticker below the seat. This makes me think that this chair is older than most. It is in good condition, does not wobble(meaning brackets are sound) Spring in seat adjustment still works, as well. Note: I installed the backrest bracket backwards. It is much neater looking when installed properly. Will correct and upload photo soon. The seat is not original, so I covered it to make it more comfortable. It is very comfortable and the first office chair produced ... morewith ergonomics in mind, with adjustable seat and backrest heights(note the brass tag has"approved by The American Posture League" I have many other fabric choices, for example: blue, cream, tan, grey, rust, or orange linen fabrics. I will send images to the buyer of all choices and will recover in selected fabric for no additional cost with brass colored or silver furniture nails(you have the option of letting these show around edges) Also, the feet are missing. I would think they are easy to find but the rolled steel legs will fit casters, which would be a cool addition. I brushed the legs, leaving a rich patina. Was considering a Japonica finish, but will let the buyer decide how they would like to finish to fit their decor. This is a great piece of American craftsmanship! These are heavy duty with cast iron bases with stainless steel rings that the casters attach. The caramel brown vinyl has a wonderful off center stitching pattern. We are preparing for a move to another state in a couple months and selling some furniture to make room for new pieces after the move. The chair bottom is formed and stationary& does not swivel. It is actually quite comfortable. Perfect for the Urban, Mid Century Modern, or Industrial Decor!
