Other than that though all the other buttons have been tested and work great. All the functions work. Cosmetically it is in good condition with only light wear. A nice collectable portable typewriter. Closed up in its carrying case it measures about 17 x 6 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches and weighs 27 pounds. Check out the other antiques and collectibles. Up for your consideration is a gorgeous vintage blue IBM Correcting Selectric II electric typewriter. It is in outstanding cosmetic and working condition. I personally tested it yesterday and all features seem to be working like new. I tested all the keys and levers. The typewriter hardly makes a sound when idle-it has that new quiet. Soothing IBM"hum" still. It looks like this typewriter was hardly used as I don't see any scratches, nicks, or scuffs. All four rubber feet are still there and in good condition. Smith Corona XL 1700 Electric Correcting Typewriter This typewriter has a lot of features- correcting cassette. Full line correction, WordEraser(erase an entire word with one key stroke) Auto Center(centers text between margins) Bold Print, Decimal Tab(automatically align numbers) There is no instruction manual with this so I didn't know how to test all these functions. However, I just searched the internet and Smith Corona has an online pdf document for the Memory Correct Typewriter at It had not been used in a long time. It took a little typing before the ink flowed smoothly again(see photo# 5) Types upper and lower case fine. I was unable to set the capitals' lock. Printing the sample demo worked fine. Photo 5 shows the keys typed; the automatic demo sample. And then the keystrokes again. Photo 2 shows it completely closed with ... morethe protective cover across the keys. The electric cord(photos 3 and 4) has a storage compartment which just snaps shut. Please note that inside the unit. I did lube the carriage on this one. Strictly from the OUTSIDE! and that smoothed out its movements nicely. It could use a thorough cleaning and lubing, but works fine as-is except as noted. It comes in its original hard shell case. Sorry. No manual. but this works pretty much like every other typewriter of the era(which would be the 1960s or 70s, more or less) It takes paper the regular direction only(if you want to turn your paper sideways. You need a typewriter ... morewith 12" carriage.which is even heavier than this one! The type face is Pica, 10 characters per inch, and looks about like this. This is what I consider a"second generation" electric portable. The first ones had powered print action only. And you had to stroke the handle to advance the paper and move the carriage to the right. This one also has"power return" a button on the keyboard that uses the motor to do these functions(thus the"automatic" name) A lever sets this for single, double, or triple space. You can move the carriage to left or right manually as well, and can roll the paper forward or back manually. Margins are set by pressing and moving levers back of the carriage- the right one has original plastic handle mounted; left one just the metal lever. But it is easily operated. Tabs set, release, and operate are by bars above the keyboard. Impression can be adjusted by dial 1-10 for making fewer or more copies. The finger pressure on the keys is always very light. Here is a wonderful vintage word processing typewriter by Smith Corona. This was my personal typerwritter in college. It was used one year then went into my closet for never to see the light of day until just recently. This unit can either be used as a traditional typewritter or as a word processor which stores your data until ready to print. It also has a spell-right dictionary which beeps at you when you make an error. The unit was tested and all keys function properly. There is a ribbon in the unit which prints fine but the correction tape must be worn out. There is a nice snug fit cover to prevent any dust build up and to protect when transporting. This is a small box containing three print wheels for a Smith Corona electric typewriter. On the box it states'Regency 10. Script 10/12, and Micro 15' there appear to be one of each. There is no further information on the box identifying models of typewriters, etc. Instructions for loading the wheels are on the side of the box.
