Up for auction is a vintage desk pad. The advertising on the corners indicates it's from The Carlton Hotel Ltd. With a phone number of M-4404. This desk pad shows wear but in my opinion. Is in remarkably good condition for being 80-85 years old. As you can see in the pics. The pad itself has no writing on it and is in great shape. The corners with the advertising do show wear. Mostly on the edges, but are solidly attached and not just hanging on. The back of the desk pad has some writing on it. And correct for the time period, the writing is in fountain pen. Up for auction is a vintage looking wood inlay lap desk. Inherited from my father's house and I have no idea where he got it. Just know that it sat in his den holding stamps. Bills etc.before it came to me and served the same function in my office. Have now moved my office to home and have no more space for this useful and very attractive piece. It could be an antique Victorian lap desk as my father was always heading to auctions of all sort, and they were all the rage in Victoria's time or it could simply be a well done but more recent reproduction of a Victorian piece. I really do not know. Measures 13" wide x 10" tall. The front angled panel flips backward to reveal an inner compartment with seven separate sections. Two glass ink wells(one is missing its original brass lid) a pencil/pen compartment and a flat embossed ... moreleather covered table for writing on. Brass hinges and nice inlay work to the centre of the front panel and the four corners. There is a vertical crack measuring 7" to the veneer on the front of the lap desk. There is also a 3" crack on the upper back side. Neither of these appear to be getting any wider and neither affect the functionality of the desk. I have for auction a Heintz desk pad from a desk set with copper and silver overlay on two of the four corners. This measures 21 inches by 10 15/16 inches. The corners are 3 1/4 inches by 3 1/4 inches triangles. The silver overlay has no losses. There are no visible marks but would be on the back of the corners. If marked. This has a brownish leather insert which has been in the desk pad for a very very long time. The desk pad has aged outside of the leather insert so it is obvious it could be original to this piece. Excellent condition with original tag and felt bottom. Measure's 6 3/4 inches wide. 3 inches tall and 1 1/2 depth. On the bottom it has green felt. Lovely raised tulips on the front. Vintage Desk Blotter Up for auction is a beautiful vintage desk blotter. It measures appx. 19-1/4" x 12-1/4" The blotter itself is white with 4 porcelain corners that hold the paper blotter. The porcelain pieces are in excellent condition with no dings or scratches. The flowers are pink and green on a blue and white background. Each porcelain triangle measures appx. 3" x 3" x 4-1/2" There is currently blue blotter paper in the blotter. But it can be easily changed. The underside of the blotter does show wear on the suede fabric, but it will still protect your desk furniture. This blotter is smaller and is wonderful for a fold-away desk or a smaller work area. Classic Art Deco shape. Note: Catalin" is a trade name for a thermosetting polymer developed when the American Catalin Corporation took over the patents for Bakelite in the late 1920's. As a material. It was similar to other Bakelite resins although a different manufacturing process made it more suitable for casting. This is a vintage. Signed Park Sherman desk top paper note pad holder. The lid is brass-tone metal and flips up. The base is metal and is a brown. Copper-y tone. Decorative motif is of a knight in armor on horseback carrying a sword. Still has original paper. The maker's mark appears on the outside lid inside the medallion and again on the inside base under the paper. The bottom is felt lined. It measures 3 1/4" by 5 1/4" The lid has some tarnish.
