It is a leather hand tooled desk pad made in 1996 by a Roycraft Master artisan who was awarded the right to use the Roycroft Logo. At the top of the pad is the Roycroft Logo with two back to back“R’s” standing for“Roycroft Renaissance. The leather is in gently used condition with no tears or bad scuffs. Antique Art Nouveau lily pad water nymph hyacinth letter desk tray, near mint
Absolutely stunning art nouveau tray in the flowing shape of a sylvan pool with a lovely water nymph(the naiads of Greek mythology) rising among the lily pads and hyacinth blossoms. No maker's mark so I don't know manufacturer. But clearly a high quality foundry. I also don't know the date but pretty sure it is old because of the cement that is in the bottom to give weight- this was a practice sometimes used by Gorham, among others, in the 1920's. I also don't know what metal- whether bronze or a spelter with a bronze-colored finish. I definitely can rule out iron as a magnet does not stick. Condition is excellent- no damage to the metal structure that I can find. Nothing dented, bent, broken off or glued back on. Finish also is in wonderful shape, just a few areas of the lightest wear. The covering on the bottom is paper ... morethin, I've never seen it before, no idea if it is original. 10 inches the long way; 6 1/2 inches front to back; and 3 5/8 inches to the top of her bun. The piece is heavy at 4 pounds and it sits flat and stable. A perfect gift for decorating a hall table or mantel piece. An unusual and charming wedding present. US shipping only.
