There are no dents, creases, or repairs. All pivot ... morepin set screws are in place. The neck is perfect- never pulled down or dented. Intonation is excellent and easily lights green all the way up and down the scale on our tuner. The pads are well seated. The horn plays low Bb with hardly any effort. It has a big, deep voice. The"Naked Lady" these were all hand engraved at the factory- we think is particularly winsome. This is a really, really good 10M. Now, the negatives, which are hard to find. The lacquer is not original, although it looks like it is(see pics) It certainly wasn't over-buffed, if at all. The lacquer is 98% or better. There is very slight lacquer wear at the neck strap attachment ring and on the neck. The nickel plating is 99% with only a few small marks on the octave key. The serial number, 331XXX indicates a late 1948 date of manufacture, about one year after CONN stopped making rolled tone holes. There is one pencil point ding near the thumb rest- too small to notice. There isn't much to criticize. The horn is beautiful and the tiny blemishes it does have can't be seen from more than a few feet away. It doesn't need anything and is gig ready out of the case. If you've ever wanted a 10M you'd love this one. They don't come much better. It will be shipped in a secure case that isn't pretty but will serve. The horn will be packed like fine china, with an end plug for safety. U.S. buyer to pay $38.00 for shipping. The exterior is in remarkable shape for its age, but more importantly, all of the pads, springs, rods, and moving parts have been looked over by a top notch NYC mechanic. The horn has a deep, powerful vintage tone, that in my opinion is far better than any new horn on the market today. Do your homework guys. As an amateur mechanic I've measured the tone holes, horn diameters of many martin models, and the indiana is the exact same dimensions as the committee models Ive worked with of the same era. Vintage Silver Buescher Bb Tenor Saxophone Sax Antique w/Case Brillhard 3 Mthpce
Up for bid is a Vintage and/or Antique Buescher Silver Bb Tenor Saxophone in good condition(ex cept the neck will ha ve to be re-corked) made in Elkhart. Indiana. Included in this auction is a Brillhard"3" mouthpiece. On the bottom of the mouthpiece is stamped Stram or something to that effect and the serial number on the mouthpiece appears to be 23085. This tenor has a left-handed neck screw and a left-handed ligature- the tightening screws are on the left side instead of the right. This instrument has been play-tested and responds fairly well from the low Bb to the high F but when I took the mouthpiece off the neck. Some of the cork crumbled, so the neck will have to be re-corked. I have included a couple of pictures of the neck to show how much cork has come off. Vintage French Malern Tenor Saxophone
Vintage Used Malerne Artist Tenor Saxophone( Pawn Shop Rescue” These horns were made in Paris circa 1960’s: Serial Number 6869. This horn is in decent shape. A few scratches, worn spots(lacquer and nickel) and small dings, lacquer about 85% When I got it the octive mechanism was messed up and this has been repaired. Someone put on a lot of new pads with modern resonators(see pics) the rest of the pads are pretty decent and the body is straight. The neck fits tight. And using my Jumbo Java and Fibracell reed, I can get the horn to play pretty good from high F down to low C, below that there’s some tech help needed as low B and Bb“burble” a lot(Your results will depend on you and your mouthpiece, lig, reed combo) A general adjustment by your tech would enhance playability. F rom the holton guide thru the factory manual this is what they said: In our gold plating. We differ from most manufacturers in plating only with pure 24-karat gold. Which gives the plate a darker color and of course is cheaper as a much lower percentage of gold is deposited upon the article being plated. Other makers will use a gold plate with a copper alloy and at the finish put on a flash of 24-karat gold or a very light covering which very soon wears down to the gold and copper basis used. All our gold plate is pure 24-karat gold. Put on over silver. So an instrument is silver plated before being gold plated. Notice that when an instrument first comes out of the silver plate it is covered with a white celluloid-like film while an instrument just coming out of the gold plate is covered with a sand colored film. This film is removed by the use of Babbitt Soap and water and a scratch brush which is a brush with very fine brass bristles. The film is taken off by this process and it leaves the surface of the plate with a satin-like finish. Except where the instrument has been sand blasted previous to plating when the finish is frosted. Up for auction is a 1957 Dorfler and Jorka"H Genet" tenor saxophone. Made in Germany. Just to give you a brief history, after his training, Dorfler went to work for Julius Keilwerth. They both studied their trade with Franz Than. In the'50s, Dorfler teamed up with financiar Jorka to form their own company. Due to their close connections, Dorfler and Keilwerth saxes are almost interchangeable. In fact, D& J saxes have often been referred to as Keilwerth clones. In comparison to many re-lacquer jobs there was considerably less buffing done to this horn. All of the engraving is intact and still very sharp looking. The deco on this horn is still very sharp and fully intact. The body of the horn is physically in very good shape. Vito / Beaugnier Tenor Saxophone
This example of a Vito/ Beaugnier has been recently overhauled with fresh pads. Large domed metal resonators, fully regulated and plays like a dream! Octave keys are both cork instead of leather so they don’t stick. Main body tube is straight and has no dents. Bow is nice with some small dents but not bad at all. The horn does show signs of dent removal work and the bell support strut has been re-soldered– not the prettiest job but it is strong. Clothing guard on the lower stack is missing; I never cared because I always play out front and not to the side. The neck strap hook has been replaced. The neck has had some solder work done to it. Once again, not the prettiest job but it seals well. The lacquer looks to be original at about 75-80% with some“crazing” on the bell– kind of looks like tiger stripes. She is not a collector’s horn but ... morea player’s horn and has it where it counts– the tone! Vito/Beaugnier horns are known for their superb“French” tone. Often overlooked by most people looking for a MK VI. Vito/Beaugnier horns are one of the best kept secrets in saxophone circles! No mouth piece or neck strap. Stand in picture not included. Appears to be in working condition as evidenced by the last owner playing it for us. Original lacquer finish is intact and does display some normal aging and usage wear. Older model Saxophone made by Amati in the old Czechoslovakia soon after WW2 I think.This is a"Tone King" Amati Kraslice tenor I think. Up for auction is this antique saxophone neck. It may be for a King Tenor. Not sure what model as I am not a sax man and I do not know for sure. Serial number on the neck is 200503. I purchased it in hopes of matching it to King Voll True that I obtained at an auction which had no neck. I was told it should fit and from a King, but is to small. Awesome vintage King Zephyr Tenor Sax The horn is in great condition for its age plays great as is and has been fully inspected It has the double neck socket just like the original King super 20 and they say the same tubes where used as the 20 so this is very similar in every way. it plays and sound great ala Sonny Stitt.Rollins etc the only work repair that was done was on the neck where a dent was removed and some lacquer removed and crease may be visible.Will get a better pic of that everything else is like in great shape for one of these.The serial is 356xxx It includes the original King Zephyr Alligator case.Very nice. Lifton Tenor Saxophone Case
This is a Lifton tenor saxophone case from the 1950’s or 60’s. Lifton went out of business in about 1971. The exterior of the case has a Buffet Crampon tag. So the case was probably for a Buffet Dynaction horn. Lifton“Built Like a Fortress” cases were used for top-of-the-line Martin. Gibson, and Gretch guitars, as well as other top name instruments like Olds trumpets. Some of the Lifton cases fetch decent prices just for the parts. This case has the leather handle. The shield shaped locks, and the extra nice interior with spots to insert the neck and the mouthpiece and keep them separate. Inside the lidded area. There is even a tab onto which you fastened the lyre to keep it from moving about. It also has a“subway” handle on the end. In addition to fitting the Dynaction. I’ve used it for carrying a Buescher, a Conn, a Martin, and a Dolnet(shown, ... morebut not included) The case lid has cracks from being opened to far. 1961 Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone 93xxx monster player!
What a great horn. You're checking out a 5-digit Mark VI Tenor. Serial number 93xxx, from 1961. The photos you see here and in the album have photos of a pickup in the neck. That pickup has been professionally removed and brazed in by a professional tech 40 successful years in the business. There are photos of the updated neck; it looks great. With the pickup gone, the neck is a perfect seal on the horn and what had already played fantastic before now plays even better! But original lacquer or not, this thing is a 5 digit horn and it sounds like one. It was professionally overhauled/repadded not long ago, and the pads have had almost zero usage since! VINTAGE THE MARTIN IMPERIAL TENOR? SAXOPHONE w/ ORIGINAL CASE NICE
Up for auction is a VINTAGE THE MARTIN IMPERIAL SAXOPHONE w/ ORIGINAL CASE. This saxophone is in very good condition for it's age. I do not see any dings and only some minor scratches just below where it reads"The Martin Imperial" As you can see the finish is still in great condition. I am not sure if this would be called a tenor or baritone sax. I know it is to large to be an alto. Some of the pads look to be in better condition than others and may need to be replaced. Serial number 314658. I do not play the saxophone and really do not know too much about them. The mouthpiece is made by Penzel Mueller. The lady I acquired this from said the case had not been opened since 1978. The case has a small tear on the outside and has a strong musty smell to it. The latches have some rust but work fine. There were several reeds, a small ... morescrew driver set, and the neck strap for this sax in the box in the case. There is also an envelope with 2 keys in it that do fit the case. Vintage 1921 Gold Plated Buescher True Tone Tenor Saxophone
For sale is a'21(97XXX) satin gold plated Buescher True Tone tenor saxophone. This rare diamond in the rough would make an excellent project for someone. The plating is at 90% or better. And is quite presentable. There are some shallow dings/dents at the bottom of the bell and top of the bow, with signs of past dent removal on the bow. There are several past re-solder repairs(see pictures) its early soft soldered snap in spuds have been removed, and the vertical portion of the primary octave key(on the body) has been broken off. There is a neck included. But it is missing the octave key and is in overall rough condition. At the very least, it could donate its man in the moon brace to transplant onto a later Buescher neck. This an AUCTION is for a VINTAGE CG CONN LTD ELKHARDT IND USA SILVER TENOR SAXOPHONE- serial# M 167218 and fall s in the era of the Chu Berry sax models. There is a letter"T" above the serial number and the letter"L" below the serial number. And also reads Patent#1119954 Dec 8th 1914. This silver sa tin finished sax is previously used. And comes as pictured. There is some tarnish under the rods and ke ys. But the bod y is in excellent condition. I t has a very small ding at the bottom left curv e- it can barely be seen in the picture. One of the rods(see the close up tow ards the end- ag ain it is hard to see) either broke off or was bent beca use the re was some kind of solder work done on it in the past. The go ld wash inside the bell is in good condition but has some scratches. There is some light sc ratch ing. Some ... morewear in the strap ring. And on several keys as one would ex pect to find on a vintage instru ment. There are a couple of pieces of felt missing on the tops of some of the pads. The sax plays out of the case(I have some limited sax playing experience) But at least 4 of the pads will need replac ing soon. It has not been played on a regu lar basis for many years- part of the reason it is in such g reat condition- but it may mean that it will ne ed mo re new pads in the ne ar future- I am not an expert in this area. This auction is for a vintage Berg Larsen metal tenor saxophone mouthpiece. I t is a duck bill version with the classic bullet s haped drop off from the baffle into the chamber. I t is stamped 95 over 1 with"M" offset(indicating a vintage piece) It also has the older"denim" machin e markings on the table. This piece is in excellent condition. There are no dings or nicks. The bite plate i s original and free of tooth marks. It comes with its original cap. The ligature is unmarked. And presumably not original, but it fits like a glove.
