I am selling a very rare Selmer Super Balanced Tenor Saxophone, vintage 1952, serial number 49,XXX in excellent condition ... morewith original lacquer at about 90% The American Selmer engraving is as deep and sharp as the day it was hand etched in Elkhart, Indiana. The personal attention and craftsmanship put into these horns is clearly evident. The horn has been serviced by my master repairman, who replaced nearly all of the original pads and kept the original Selmer metal resonators intact- and there are still a few original pads on horn that are still soft and sealing! This is one of those SBA Tenors that has lived in its case most of its life, only brought out for a few special occasions. It has mostly been stored in my music room in a climate controlled smoke-free home, and it is in incredible original condition with the original Selmer Chesterfield case with Clarinet and Clarinet Insert Case. It's not perfect and it's not 100% but it's pretty darn good as the pictures clearly show. There are a few scratches around the neck strap hook, some lacquer wear on a few areas- mostly on the backside with some pitting on the tube, and some lacquer loss on the palm keys, key cups, and neck. The bow is near perfect. This horn plays like an SBA Tenor should play, with fuzzy tongue sub-tones all the way down the scale to low Bb. Intonation is excellent throughout the registers, and the sound is amazing. This horn simply smokes! Very few of these horns were produced by Selmer in the early 1950's. So if you always wanted that very special, one-of-a-kind SBA Selmer Tenor with a Selmer Clarinet, then this is it. U.S. Bidders only. King Zephyr Tenor Saxophone. Mid-50’s Sax. Completely Overhauled, Great Playing Horn! Up for auction is this King Zephyr tenor saxophone. Serial number 331048, dating from the mid-50’s. The Zephyr is the“poor cousin” of the King Super 20. It was not offered with the sterling silver neck or bell, or the pearl key inlays, or the fancy key engraving that the Super 20 was, but it shared the same bore, body, soldered tone holes and keys. Zephyrs play like Super 20’s. But at a fraction of the cost. What a great playing horn this is! It has a unique tone quality: strong and intense but very different than a typical“Mark VI” sound. The bottom end is huge and the sound is even. All the way to top notes. The pitch is extremely good, with only very minor fluctuations between octaves(it is a saxophone. After all) The action is smooth and even, with no ... morelost motion or slop. It feels very comfortable in the hands. This Zephyr has about 90% of its original lacquer intact. There are only a few scratches and wear spots. Mostly on the keys. The pads look quite new, barely a water mark on them. All are equipped with brown plastic Selmer-type resonators. Buescher 400“Top-Hat& Cane” Tenor Saxophone This is a very clean Buescher 400“Top-Hat& Cane” tenor saxophone. Serial#326374 dates its manufacture to 1949. It is a model B 11. Often referred to as a“Series 1” Buescher 400. Top-Hat& Cane” refers to the bell engraving of a top-hat, gentleman's cane and gloves. Very sophisticated. Below the raised, nickel silver“Buescher 400” logo is an engraving of a castle on a seaside cliff and ornate floral patterns extending to the bow. Folks, they don't engrave them like this any more. The 400 has some very unique features. The upper octave key is under-slung. And has an art deco styling. Needle springs are“Norton Springs” which screw into the posts instead of being force-fitted, which is the usual way. The original ones are gold plated. Some of these are missing and have been replaced ... morewith stainless steel springs in a Norton-style screw-in fixture. The bell keys are on the right-hand side, facing away from the player, and have a nifty wrap-around mechanism. The outside lip of the bell has a nickel silver“tone ring” soldered on. In fact, most of the horn has a two-tone look to it. All the long rods, the thumb-hook and thumb-rest are made of nickel silver, giving a nice contrast to the lacquered brass. All the rollers are a very cool-looking yellow-brown, and the pads, like all Bueschers, have snap-on metal resonators, all of which are intact, except the palm keys and the C key pads. Not sure if the lacquer is original. Might be a re-lacquer. But a very good one. The engraving is nice and crisp, but the color is kind of bright for a 64 year old tenor. Pretty much 99% intact, with only a few light scratches and wear spots. Some sign of dent work around the inside of the bow. A few wavy areas and traces of the dent balls. Other than that, no dents. Signs of little soldering done around the neck and the low Eb key guard. Pretty clean work. This horn has been completely overhauled. All new pads. Corks and felts. Conn 10M(Naked Lady) Tenor Saxophone Late model Conn 10M Tenor. Serial#873769, made in 1960. The"Naked Lady" or"Lady Face" refers to the engraving on the bell. These are wonderful saxophones, with an enormous bottom end. A top-of-the-line horn in its day, they are still sought after by players looking for the unique sound they offer. The original lacquer is about 90% intact. With a few wear spots up near the neck receiver and some very light scratching. Very minor dents, tiny pings really, on the bow, body and neck. Maybe half a dozen spots at most. Nickel plating on the keys is fine, except for a wear spot on the octave lever touch point. Some gray“hazing” on the nickel, it can be buffed off if you like. Pads are a mix of newer and older. Double-socket neck fits well. Horns plays right down to low Bb as is, but you may ... morewant to have your horn tech go over it and replace a few pads, reseat others. Set it up the way you want it. Not the B screw or epoxy screw model) However this appears to be for a metal tenor saxophone mouthpiece. I've never see n one quite like this and I have no idea if it is actually a Brilhart or not. So please use your own jud gement in making that conclusion. Besides the 3 band design. And possibly more importantly. The very thick screw bars remind me of the Brilhart design. Not all of their ligature s bore their name either. Including the standard model w hich this mo st resembles in my opinion. Vintage Selmer Airflow pre-Soloist E Tenor Saxophone Mouthpiece w/ligature
THIS MOUTHPIECE IS IN PRETTY HARSH CONDITION! Approximately 65%75% of the silver plating is flaking off. And much of the remaining silver plating is already tarnished. The beak has a medium deep bite mark. Actually, other then the shocking appearance of the silver plating, the truly important parts of this mouthpiece are still in fine playing condition. You can tell this is a great mouthpiece because it's been played and has been consistently used for the past 60 some odd years. I know it looks pretty scary. But I really believe that this mouthpiece plays perfectly. Ideally, someone should just strip this mouthpiece of the remaining silver plating and either re-plate it or keep it raw brass with a clear lacquer. King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone Up for your consideration is a nice King Super 20 Tenor Saxophone. Serial Number 397339. Which places it's vintage around 1964. The instrument had a complete overhaul about a year ago. New corks, felts, springs(as needed) and white Roo Pads. The horn rocks! Big fat sound. Action is tight and fast. Great jazz. R&B, Rock& Roll player. Very flexible. Normal wear. A few dings, but no major dents. There is an old solder repair to the neck brace(see photos) Does not affect the performance. Or playability whatsoever. I played Selmer Mark VI's for years and always wanted to try the Super 20's. So I bought this one and fixed it up. I absolutely love everything about this horn. Then I found a 1940 King Zephyr Special shortly after having this one overhauled and wound up ... moreplaying it all the time. So I am selling the Super 20. Included is the original case. Some of the leather stitching is coming loose(see photos) and I made my own handle, but it's very sturdy and works well. I have described the horn as best as I can. Up for auction is a 1947 Holton 241 Tenor Saxophone. Made in Elkhorn, WI. This is Holton's best. The 241, which appears engraved on the bell under)Holton" and above the serial number, stands up to any of the greatest tenors ever made. Famous for their great sound and fantastic low register, this particular 241 is in great condition and plays as well as any of the great vintage USA made tenors in history. Holton never became a big name in woodwinds, primarily famous for their brass instruments, but the 241 makes you wonder why. I have set up the horn to play from top to bottom beautifully with a beautiful sound due to the following: The sax was completely refurbished- pads(already in great shape) reseated and/or replaced where needed. Pretty much 98 percent intact. Has some minor dings in various spots, definitely nothing major. I tried to get good pics of the condition. I did run it by a woodwind shop. He said it probably has not been played in several years, its a little dusty. Also will need to keys adjusted etc, minor things need to be done. The pads are good but not great. the neck has some tiny dings also. He did say he believes the laqcuer to be original. money back if not satisfied! SELMER MARK VII WITH MARK VI NECK TENOR SAX SAXOPHONE-NO RESERVE
This is a vintage Mark VII(M262XXX 1977) that is paired with a Mark VI neck. The M in the serial number. I’ve read, indicates it has the same body as the Mark VI. Depending on who you ask, this horn is either a terrible mistake by Selmer or a“diamond in the rough” and one of the best units they ever made. In my experience, this horn holds its own with almost any Mark VI. The Mark VII is known for its brightness and projection. It will cut through any background ensemble when you are soloing. The Mark VI neck softens the brightness and fattens the sound. This horn has the best of both lines– a rich and even tone– beautiful sound– bright. Centered high overtones and rich centered low overtones. The horn has tight. Fast action and no leaks. My horn technician has gone over it and it has no playability issues. All necessary corks and pads have ... morebeen replaced, where needed, and this horn seals nicely on each note. The neck has a mic port. Which does not leak. It kind of gives it a more of a vintage vibe. There is finish wear on both sides of the neck which indicates a prior repaired pull-down. But has no effect on the playability. There is typical wear for a horn of this age. It has been heavily buffed and re-lacquered some time ago. It is a players piece and not the right horn for a person looking for a stunning original example. Excellent condition otherwise. There are no dents. Included is a Pro Tec hard contoured case in great condition. If you are seeking a vintage Selmer for about half of what the pricey cousins go for. This may be for you. As this is a used instrument. Up for auction is a pretty well used Berg Larsen 95/1 M(offset M) tenor sax mouthpiece. Ligature and cap. I found this in the case of an instrument I bought. I do not know how many people owned this mouthpiece nor do I know if it was worked on previously. I do not know if the ligature and cap are the originals. However, both do fit this mouthpiece. As the pictures will indicate, it needs alot of work. The bite plate needs to be replaced. There is some scratching/scouring inside the chamber/throat/baffle of the mouthpiece. I have tried to capture this in the pictures. My feeling is this piece is a repairman's special. Perhaps it can be worked on, opened up and made to become a good playing mouthpiece.
