ORIGINAL 18TH CENTURY SILVER MOUNTED SHORT SWORD, HUNTING CUTTOE, SABER
Up for bids is this original 1700's hunting sword or cuttoe. The single edged hand forged blade is 23-1/2" long and is flat backed. Overall length is 29" It has a narrow groove near the top of the blade and a sharp false edge running back 7" from the point. The unmarked blade is gray with scattered light pitting. The convex clamshell guard(excellent condition) and other metal fittings are solid silver. Not washed or plated or of German silver. There is a cartouche on the reverse of the guard but I can't make it out. The knuckle guard and quillon have been broken off and are missing. Also, the pommel cap is missing. No scabbard. The fluted horn grip is in excellent plus condition with no cracks or losses and is tight to the blade. This sword is a piece worth restoring or as parts. For a very similar sword, see"Swords ... moreand Blades of the American Revolution" by Neumann# 92-s. I believe the sword is European and dates circa 1730-1760. INGRAHAM SHORT DROP WALL CLOCK CASE WALNUT CASE NO ROT CIRCA LATE 19th OR EARLY 20th CENTURIES THIS is a guaranteed genuine short drop schoolhouse"regulator" CASE ONLY. It has a dark finish. And as best I can discern, under that it is walnut. There is a partial label on the back; maybe 30% of it is present, and it is darkened. I tried to photograph it, but ... moreit just would not take because of the lack of contrast. I think(emphasis on"think" I can discern the letters"RAHAM" and if that is correct, it is an Ingraham. Cosmetically. It is dirty, even though I have removed one or two layers of crud. Only about half the upper bezel is present, and of course there is no upper glass. The lower bezel is intact, as is its glass. The backboard is loose and will need to be re-glued/nailed. Now, having said all that, the good news is that the wood is sound. There is no rot anywhere. It just needs some TLC-well, a lot of TLC and of course a movement, pendulum, dial, hands, etc. It is 24 inches tall. And takes about a 15.5 inch bezel. The upper screw holes, where the movement was mounted, are about 3.5 inches apart, and the lower ones a little more, about 3 5/8 inches.
