ALAMO GUARDS BATTERY FRENCH 1794 DATED ARTILLERY SHORT SWORD This very early French artillery short sword dated 1794 on the brass cross bar of the guard was used from1863 by Sergeant Edward Bothwell of Edgar’s Battery. Alamo Guards, 1 st Texas Artillery. It is one of many French arms imported into Texas by the French Army in Mexico all through the Civil War. It is quite different than the 1816 pattern that had a completely different brass handle& had a 19” blade or the 1831 pattern that had a grip like this one& the same blade. This sword is 26 ½” overall length with a diamond cross section 20 ½” x 1 7/8” blade. 1 piece brass feather pattern grip, without rivets) guard with 1794 date stamped on one side& pommel that has a 1“ tall flour de les stamped deeply into the brass on both sides. It had been on display in the Brownsville. Texas United Confederate Veterans Museum from the late 1890’s until 1929. One of the first tasks was to find a building to act as the new headquarters. The building was at 4 Whitehall Place. The new building was adjacent to the Public Carriage Office where a Commissioner was already responsible for the licensing of taxi cabs. When the public went to see the new Commissioners, they used the back entrance ... moreof 4 Whitehall Place the rear of which was converted into a police station. The reception area soon became known as"Back Hall" an expression still used today in the headquarters of the Metropolitan Police. This entrance was in Great Scotland Yard, off Whitehall, and the building soon became known as Scotland Yard. On the surface are carved samurai warriors which can be seen in the photos. The blade has dark areas from age and is in good condition with a brass collar near the tsuba hand guard. Vintage 70s Madeira (Guild) EBO Style Short Scale Bass...
Up for bid is a nice 70's Madeira Short Scale 4 string Bass. These were made in Japan by Guild.Nice quality guitar. Some nicks and scratches. Good size gouge on lower side. Double pickups I think they are Dearmond and original to the best of my knowledge. Lots of choices with double pu's. very deep and also bright and honkin. Everything works. Case is a Guild soft shell and in ok shape. Little rough. Not the original case and is a tight fit but does the job. Any questions feel free. Too big for me(even though it is a short scale) I like my Gretsch better. Item is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to stop the auction if I sell it.
