A person who does weak-signal work or moon bounce work would want this amplifier as well as businesses. Airports, and research orgs doing VHF wanting as a spare unit. Very hard to come by full-limit amps at that frequency. Two caveats: Requires a hefty power supply of 1500-2000 volts. Parts are expensive but not a bank-roll killer. Also requires controls to run it(see the little black box with pins in the bottom right of pix 7) Manual and parts should be available from Motorola(Mot = Motorola) but also expensive. But once you've got/built the power supply and built/acquired a control box. You've got an absolutely primo amp. RF Power Labs V70 90 watt 2 Meter Amp. All modes. AM FM SSB CW, 144-148mhz. Up to 90 watts out depending on drive. Self contained AC power supply. With 13 volt DC regulated on a jack at the rear. This amp w as designed to supply 13 volts DC at 3 amps to power the early 10 watt exciters. All you needed was an interconnecting coax cable and you were on the air. I bought this amp off ebay with a broken switch and a blown final. The designer and manufacturer was a personal friend to many of us here in the NW. The common problem is setting the taps too high on the multi-tap transformer in order to squeeze the last watt out. And overdriving the amp. This one is designed for a nominal drive of 10 watts, and an absolute maximum of 15 watts. I have some parts to repair these amps. The early amps were 70 watts output, but later transistors brought ... moreit up to about 90 watts. This one now will do almost 100 watts, but I don't recommend it. The power out shown was with about 13 watts drive from a Kenwood TS-700. The manual says V71 instead of V70. I think the difference is the drive is shown as 3 watts. With the corresponding driver transistor. Specs are shown for designing a"T" pad, if the drive level has to be attenuated, and where to place it. My exciter seems to like a length of 72 ohm coax to the input of the amp, which I will include. If you choose something else the input circuit may have to be readjusted. Again. This amp is designed for the earlier exciters which produced about 10 watts out. Any attempt to drive it with much more will blow the driver transistor for sure and possibly the final too, although that possibility has been minimized with the current transformer tap settings. If you have a 45 or 50 watt exciter, there isn't much sense in buying this amp anyway, it will only provide about 3 db amplification, where a 10 watt exciter will be increased almost 10 db, a very noticeable increase. I have for sale a used DOSY TC3001-P 3 window meter. It has SWR/ RF POWER/ MODULATION. Cosmetically it is in nice shape and it did work pretty good when I removed it from my base station a couple months ago. I replaced the incadescent light bulbs inside with white LED's but must have been cheapo's as it's not as bright as they used to be. There is a switch on back to turn the lights on and off. Also there is a spot on back to plug in 12 volt power for the lights and I just ran the power off my 12 volt power strip. So I have no power pack for it. The unit appears to operate as intended using signals from our roof antenna compared to known frequencies. The meter responds to signal levels and all switches appear to function correctly. The meter illumination operates when selected. We do not have the instruments to verify calibration. We had purchased this unit as part of equipment liquidation. The unit as received did not have the required outboard power supply to charge the internal batteries and/or operate off AC. Consequently. We are bundling the 7600 with a JENSEN Model 57-20-900 D, 20 VDC 900ma power supply. We used the power supply to charge the batteries which appear to work fine and also allows AC line operation. The batteries hold ... morea charge nicely which allow mobile operation. The JENSEN supply is obviously not the Sedelco OEM version and in fact the output plug was replaced to provide proper center+ polarity. We noted what appears to be Velcro-style anchor tape on the cabinet sides which was poorly removed. Front panel cosmetics are very clean and the cabinet with the exception of the anchor tape and some light back scratches is clean as well. Pictures 1-3 show operation using only a clip lead at the input receiving a local FM radio station. NO TEST LEADS. COVERS OR MANUALS ARE PROVIDED. You are bidding on what is pictured. Mostly on the top of the case. This model tracks within about 0.2 db of my other test equipment(HP 8647A) and a 4220A power meter. I have recorded the testing results from three different power sensors from 1 to 1000 MHz.
