Vintage Kenwood KR-5150 Stereo Receiver
Description For your consideration is an older Kenwood KR-5150 stereo receiver. Cosmetically in very nice shape. Cabinet is nice.It would make a great fixer-upper as all it really needs is some lamps and contact cleaning. There is some what I think is tape residue on bottom of one side(see photo) and a few other marks which would easily cover up with a fresh oiling. The front panel is probably a 9 out of 10. All original. I didn't see any scratches, nicks, dents. Not absolutley perfect but probably as nice as you would find. I tested it on my bench and everything is working. Including phono, FM(and stereo reception) AM and all other functions. There is some noise as is typical in the selector switch and some others. Needs some contact cleaner. The tuning meter works but needs a new lamp. The display lamps are out as well.Function lamps, ... morestero lamp are working. I believe these are all fairly easy to install fuse lamps. It receives strongly. I saw no indication of any repair, probably all orignal. The output speaker connector board does have a slight warp to it but connections seem find. This early 20th century card receiver has a Chinese theme. Featuring a Shar Pei in the center of the roughly circular tray, and three toed Chinese dragons around the rim. Measuring approximately 5.25” in diameter, it has some spotting, and is marked‘SID’ on the back, but this does not appear to be a maker’s mark. There is a slight bend in the lip. This may have been made in China, but would not have been made for export. It is a charming depiction of some the animals emblematic to China.
