Ludlum Model 3 Survey Meter Geiger Counter and 44-9 Pancake - Recent Calibration
For sale is a working Ludlum Model 3 Geiger counter. Which includes a working 44-9 probe, a BNC adapter to allow you to use Eberline or any other brand of probe including scintillation probes, and a large carrying case with shoulder strap. The meter itself is in pristine mechanical and electrical condition. With no corrosion whatsoever in the battery compartment(see pictures) and a very pretty circuit board. The paint around the meter window is a little bit chipped, I colored some of the missing chips in with sharpie. I also re-sealed the glass window of the probe with silicone, which provides a better seal against water intrusion into the meter mechanism. The calibration is approximately 9 months out of date, but that's not a huge problem especially for hobby users(as it is CPM only, and the last calibration hardly had to do anything ... moreto change it) I included the calibration sheet folded in the main compartment of the meter, as well as the sticker on the side. The 44-9 Geiger-Muller probe is a standard pancake GM tube mounted in a ruggedized handle. Besides a few dents in the mesh grille and some normal scratches. The probe is in perfect working condition. You can see a picture of the probe being used to test a sample of uranium ore in the pictures section(the sample of ore is not included in this auction) The BNC to C-type adapter is intended to be used with scintillation probes. But it can be used to adapt any type of BNC apparatus to the counter. I bought it here on eBay, it's roughly a $20 value. The case is an old videocamera case that I found that happens to fit the survey meter and its cord quite well. I have used it while prospecting to hold the meter over my shoulder. And the beeps of the counter can be heard relatively well through the case. Please ask any questions you may have!

The inside foam is perfect. The hinges are working but the pins have been broken and it has wire inside the hinges.still opens flawlessly. I took the unit to Geo Shack to have it inspected, cleaned and any repairs needed. The unit was in perfect working order, all the glass was cleaned and a new top handle was put on.
