This is a DAYTON Electric Motor Model 2N8657. It is rated at 1/2 hp& 1425 rpm. It has a 5/8" shaft with a 3/16" key. The frame is a 56. I am not an electric motor expert so I added photos of the specification labels of this motor as there is some contradictory information concerning the Hertz and the rpm. As for the condition. I have no definitive knowledge of the history of this motor. However, other than a little dust it appears to be in really nice shape. Hi. This is Don. Here is a nice Dayton. 1/3 hp, 1750 rpm, non capacitor start motor. It is in very good cond for it's age, runs smooth and quite. This is a split phase, reversible, 115 volt motor, the 1/2" shaft with a flat is in good cond. I opened this motor wiped it clean inside, and cleaned the outside. The bearings and shaft is in very good cond, and I put some oil in. Included with this motor is a power cord and switch box for reversing the motor, however, I removed the switch box from a different motor and you have to figure out the wiring yourself, I did mark the wires from their locations that I unhooked them and that may help. The reversing switch did operate well on the other motor, you should be sure to turn motor off before reversing direction. This motor is appropriate for a small metal lathe up to about a 6" like ... morea Craftsman, Atlas, Dunlap, a little small for the 10" Atlas. Not appropriate for a grinder, tablesaw, or joiner. This is a pre-owned DAYTON 1/2 HP electric motor. 3450 RPMs. 115V with on/off switch. 1.5 inch shaft. 0.5 inch diameter. With a flat cutout on one side. This motor was originally used with a wheat grinder setup. It has minor scuffs and scratches here and there, as well as some wheat flour dust on the inside, but it works great!
