We have a number of these around our shop but never ended up using them. They are great little motion controllers. To my knowledge there is nothing wrong with it and it 100% functional. If you get it and it does not work. I will give you 100% refund after you send it back. This one has a little dust still on it from sitting around. NOTE This Smooth Steppers Header pins are reversed from standard. They still work fine. And you can un- solderer them and install some on the top. The SmoothStepper is a 6 axis motion control device that connects to the USB port of a computer. It accepts commands from a trajectory planner(i.e. Mach3) and produces a very high quality pulse train to stepper and servo motors. At this time the SmoothStepper only works with Mach3. Y and Z outputs, it has an RS-232 port and inputs for limit switches, CNC and Joystick. It is in good cosmetic condition. With some scuffs, scratches or marks. Powers up with no errors, but is otherwise untested. It came as surplus from a government lab and due to the limited testing it's sold as-is, with no guarantees, even though it may work perfectly- we just don't know! 1.8 deg. Unipolar Stepper Motor with Anaheim TM4500 controller
We got this from the spare parts crib at a very technically elaborate and well maintained candle factory. It was a spare part for a“lid puncher head” The motor is a Lin Engineering model 8618M-02-03 unipolar 8 wire stepper motor with a 1.8 degree step rated at 4 amps. 24 VDC or 100 watts. The Anaheim controller will deliver ½ step or full step control with all the usual bells and whistles. It’s so simple a junk dealer can make it work. Just connect the motor. Supply 24 VDC or VAC, and supply a pulse stream to an input pin. I just hooked a wire to the input and tapped it to ground rapidly resulting in a 1.8 degree rotation per tap. Any simple pulse stream generator will do. The Anaheim can also be configured to allow a microprocessor to directly fire each phase. That’s a bit beyond junk dealer 101. Hard to find on the used market: IM Service 3 Axis Servo Box with 3 Matched Servo Motors that are Nema 23 format using 1/4" standard shafts. They are ready to plug-n-play. I bought this setup brand new about 3 years ago and never used except for testing. The system I ended up with was 4 axis(3 axis plus a slave axis) and never used this system. I hooked it up for testing once and it sat around in the garage. I probably ran it less than 1 or 2 hours max! This is as close to brand new as it gets. I shuffled it around the garage a few times which left a couple faint marks on the system mainly from stacking stuff on top of it. This is an excellent setup for something like a Sherline or Taig Mill. I assume you could buy the extra driver board from IM Service and make this a 4 axis box if you wanted but this is beyond my wiring capabilities ... moreso decided to sell. If you've ever wanted a 3 axis servo setup for a small tabletop mill but didn't know where to begin then this setup is your answer. This is a high quality setup using Globe Motors. Also. This box has 3 limit switches already wired and ready to mount plus an Emergency Off push button. It's a top notch build and I really hate to sell but don't have a use for this setup. Box also has a connection for controlling the spindle and a home switch(Note: It has the connection but you'd need to purchase the cable and connect.
