FOR SALE yet another TR-501 but this one is modified since I had more than one of these TR501 units and no more TR503 units I wanted to see how easily I could make the tr501 work with such Tek units as 492 494 495 96 497 492p 494p 495 p 496p 497p 2753 2754 2792 2794 2753p 2754p2792p 2794p etc. I can up with a modification which is a manual master setting of the tracking frequency(this modification enabled by jumper plug at the rear of the unit to change it from the normal tr501 functions) The unit in modified manual mode will work with either type of unit IE 49x 27xx units or the 7000 series units but will require adjustment to the master setting when switching types once done the unit will tracking your SA as you change its frequency the manual master adjustment is a 20 turn trim pot acessible from the front lower corner of the unit. HP 5086-7799 Tracking Generator Module HP 8560A This a Tracking generator Module out of a HP 8560A Spectrum Analyzer. I believe this Module is in working Condition because it was not what was wrong with the unit. But after I took the module out I notice the SMB connector was damaged. Looks Like ite outer shell of the SMB connector is broken off Center pin is still there. I took some pictures of it. Probably still usable but would have to be careful. I also left the cables on it. I did take the cover off and it looks like the connector can be replaced easily I actually already took it off but my replacment was not quite the right one. Amplifier-Detector Module for HP 8444A Tracking Generator
This is an Amplifier and ALC Detector module model 0960-2038 used in an HP 8444A Tracking Generator. It appears to have been used but was not discarded assuming a replacement module did not fix the problem. Using a spectrum analyzer and tracking generator I have checked that there is overall gain between the input and output ports of approximately 20 dB up to 1 GHz(upper limit of my analyzer) This appears to be good based on the 26 dB gain of the internal amplifier and combined losses of the internal 3 dB attenuator and low-pass filters. The output from the level detector varies from 0v to a couple hundred millivolts negative DC depending on the RF input level. The internal reference diode also appears to be OK when checked with an ohmmeter. Showing conductivity when forward biased and open when reverse biased. If you have an HP 8444A Tracking ... moreGenerator then this part may be very useful to you for repair or as a spare. No doubt these modules are nearly impossible to find or to repair. Although the part does appear to have functionality I have no way to fully test it to factory specifications. It does not look to be totally blown out with a bad amplifier or open diodes. But there may be some defect that would only show once installed in the test equipment. I didn't want to toss it as there's always the chance someone could make use of this rare part.
