This is a dinner favor made by Pettibone Brothers in Cincinnati for the Bankers of Cincinnati and presented ... moreto attendees of a dinner party given for the Ohio Bankers Association September 26, 1895. The construction is tin except for the little pot engraved with the date that hangs over the hearth, it is steel. The front side panels list the menu for the dinner, looks like these fellows had quite the repast. This is 7 1/4" tall x 5 1/4" wide across the base. The mantle is decorated with scenes of Cincinnati industry, very detailed. The tin is two tone, copper and silver. This little gem has so much going on that you can find new details each time you examine it. If you like the rare and unusual, please consider this jewel, it is simply SUPERB! Gioielleria Banchieri Jewelry Bank ers Box from Livorno. Italy Vintage Up for bid is an Italian Silver and Wood Jewelry Bankers Box(translation of Gioielleria Banchieri) This was acquired from an estate sale. And upon doing some research, estimate that it is post 1944, but most likely no later than 1970. As I was told it was an old box. It is made of 800/1000 silver alloy(800 parts silver 200 parts alloy) It is in very good condition for it's age. The wood is beautiful on this box. It looks like pecan with a polyeurethane glaze. Box weighs 1 lb 1.4 oz. There is an"800" marking. And next to it is a mark called a"lozenge" which inside of the mark contains the silversmith number and province. It can't be determined who the silversmith was or the province. Box measures 5 3/8 inches square and 1 1/8 inches high. They would have been right at home in a bank. Law office, or court house. Unfortunately they have no manufacturing tag. They have nicks and bumps appropriate for their age and use. He was born at Morenci, Michigan, March 29, 1859, and is a son of Jacob and Maryette(Beckwith) Stair.
