However, there are two pieces(one herringbone necklace and a pair of earrings) that is 18k, and there is a magnificent huge Smoky Quartz filigree ring which is 10k gold. There is a total of 64.8 grams in this lot with 98% of it consisting of 14k or better! The weight is actually around 71 grams, but I have deducted for the weight of the large smoky quartz stone. I have not deducted for the other gemstones because most are tiny and each piece that contains gemstones is very wearable! I think there used to be a strip of Gold or another stone inlaid into it. I am just guessing at that. But it looks like there used to be something in there. 14 oz scrap gold computer pins ribbon connectors recovery 410 grams NICE
Up for bid is a large lot of various gold plated computer pins for gold recovery. The majority of these pins are from ribbon cable connectors which vary in gold thickness and gold color. While plucking these pins I came across a few connectors that didn't appear to have any gold on them and I just threw those ones away. A few very lightly plated pins may have made it into the batch along with a couple brass ones but they are few and far between. These pins came entirely from computer components. This is the remnants of about 58 computer towers and 2 servers. Many of the systems were vintage models with great looking pins while others were newer with your standard looking pins. Around 25% of these are pins that were cut from high grade green fiber boards that have much more gold on them than the ribbon connector pins. Some of these pins ... moreare entirely plated. Anhydrous Borax (1 pound)/ refining gold/ silver/ scrap/ nuggets/ flux/ melting
Anhydrous Borax Anhydrous Borax is the oldest known gold melting flux. It was used by the Southwestern Indians. After discovering boron in the Mohave Desert and Death Valley. Anhydrous Borax is still widely used in the smelting and refining of precious metals as it is one of the simplest to use fluxes around. To use Anhydrous Borax. You need a melting vessel(melting dish, crucible, etc. You should place a bed of Anhydrous Borax. Then add your material you intend to melt. The cap it with anhydrous borax. Then you need a heat source. With Anhydrous Borax. A lot of small timers use a torch. But a kiln, or UFO micro furnace are preferable. Turn up the heat for about 45 minutes to an hour to make sure it is all melted. Temp needed is around 1500 degrees F. Or higher, to melt and fuse properly. You now need a pouring mold(I have them available) ... moreto pour your melt into. So the borax and your melted material will cool. This will form a cone shaped piece of glass. The precious metals settle to the bottom of the cone. Take this glass cone. And place it on something hard, and lightly whack it with a hammer. The glass will break away. To be thrown away. What you will have left is a small cone shaped dore bead. Which now needs to be beat into a cube. The main reason for cubing the dore is to make sure all the glass(or most of it) is gone. There will still be fragments stuck to it. Or dust, but this will not matter. Now the cube needs to be placed into a cupel and heated by the use of a kiln. Or the UFO micro furnace. So you have an even heating. The purpose of this is so that the cupel can soak up the impurities left. Besides that. For a good firing, I have found that you need 2000 degrees F. or better for the cupel to do it's job properly. What will be left is a gold or silver(or both) Bead in the bottom center of the cupel. Now if this sounds to complex. We offer the one step Amalgamite process right here on ebay. But you still need the same tools, except the pouring mold. Everything mentioned as needed here. Is
