This unit is in good physical condition with only minor scuffs and scratches due to normal wear. The eye pieces are clear and unscratched and focus easily. The rotary moved very smoothly and wasn't tough to turn at all. With each rotation the blade came out a little further and the amount that it came out adjusted properly with the setting. The wheel on the side spins and moves the silver piece accordingly. The AG controller powers on and says error and then beeps a few times and the error sign goes away. And has normal cosmetic wear such as scuffs, scratches, and some residual wax etc. It comes exactly as you see in the pictures. If you are in the market for one of these. You probably know more about their operation than I do, so please examine the pics carefully. As there may be some parts missing. In particular, it appears that some of the clamping levers and/or set-screws on the specimen holder are missing. After some very cursory testing, I noted that the locking lever on the side(located under the hand crank) does not fully lock the machine. Instead, it provides some resistance, but the wheel is still able to turn. When the locking lever is in the off position, the wheel turns freely and very smoothly. The coarse feed wheel works. As does the section counter. ... moreThe clamping levers on the knife holder seem to work, though I'm not an expert on how tight they're"supposed" to be, so I can't say for sure. I made some adjustments to the section thickness knob, though with my naked eye I could not see any discernible change in the position of the sample holder. Of course, the adjustments are in micrometers, so maybe all that proves is my eyes aren't very good! I did not perform any"real world" tests with actual samples.
