Vintage Tascam MM-20 Modular Mixer with MU-20 Meter Bridge
Pinnacle Drive Band used this mixer to make practice and demo tapes back in the 80's. Truly vintage 80's analog sound. The mixer was part of a larger setup we had in a recording/ practice studio. We used this gear A LOT. And it worked quite well. It is extremely versatile. You can create and recreate sound chains at will. The entire system is modular. With patch cords linking each channel or component to the next. This mixer also has the optional MU-20 four channel meter bridge which is a great way to visualize what is going on in each channel. The four VU meters have a red LED that indicates +10 db or over peaks. Between the LEDs and the smooth analog meters we almost always got what we expected on tape. We tended to run hot. So we occasionally crunched. Take two, everyone. It was all fun. I'm also including all the patch cords ... moreyou see and some Tascam channel jumpers(see pics) Too. This equipment was a lot of fun to learn and grow with. It taught us much about sound, recording, mic'ing, and helped us hear how we sounded. We made many changes and some improvements as a result. This mixer has been in storage since I left Colorado in 1989. No doubt the faders and controls need some attention. But a few minutes of cleaning will result in many hours of productive recording work. I hope this mixer helps you as much as it helped me. There is a pretty active user community online. HEALTH-O-METER SCALE vintage antique 250 lb weight tool 1921
Here is a set of scales. Marked on dial"Health-O-Meter Continental Scale Works Chicago. Ill Pat'd 1921" I suppose these would be called bathroom scales. Dial goes to 250 pounds and is covered by a piece of bubble glass. The glass is easily removed for cleaning by removing the metal retainer ring. Made mainly of cast iron it is heavy and weighs about 20 pounds. Overall it is 10 1/2 inches long. 13 inches wide, and 8 inches tall. I stepped on them a few times and they seem to be weighing reasonably accurate. They do not always return to"0" when you get off of them but they seem to be landing within 5 pounds of"0" And measure the same weight reguardless. I repainted them an off-white color which is similar to original color. Not a professional paint job but not a bad job either. The cover. For the top that you ... morestand on, is cracked up and worn out. This cover may have been rubber or some type of similar material(not cloth) I do not see any breaks or repairs. Sold as a vintage display/collector item. But seems to be in good working condition. Neat looking old scales. See photos for details of cosmetic condition. It is in as found condition. This is a Rare Vintage 1952 Gossen/ Kelvilux– Color Temperature Meter for Color Photography. This Deluxe Model comes with; 4 page instructions manual; Brown Bakelite Meter; Handset Wand for measuring Light; Leather Case for holding both pieces; several leather carrying straps for the case. The Bakelite meter body measures 2 5/8” x 3 ¾” x 1 1/8” deep. And has; a window in the front for the meter needle readings; a pop-out stand in the back; a knob for selecting outdoor, indoor or mixed lighting. But typically they were simple meters which were sealed into a heavy plastic case that could withstand water pressure to a reasonable ... moredepth. Many years ago. When manual exposure meters were the norm for underwater photography, we were introduced to an invaluable photographic tool- the Sekonic Marine Meter. You would think that with all of today's fancy autoexposure camera systems, a meter of this type would disappear. Well, for a time it almost did as it was temporarily discontinued in 1993. Fortunately, Sekonic and its distributor, Mamiya America, had the wisdom to see the advantage of this meter, and recently re-introduced the Sekonic Marine Meter II(L-164C) The Sekonic Marine Meter II is pretty straightforward in operation. All exposure information is displayed on the front faceplate of the round housing. The back of the meter has battery compartment access. Two control knobs, and the CdS cell. The battery compartment is o-ring sealed and holds one PX-13 or EPX-13 equivalent battery. Care must be taken to grease the o-ring and make sure it is clean before closing the battery compartment. The On-Off control has three positions. The On and Off positions are obvious; the third is a battery check that is displayed on the front of the meter.
