Here is a vintage Lampkin Laboratories Model 105-B frequency meter in working condition. I recall seeing these still advertised in QST magazine in the early 1970’s. Frequency range is 100 kHz to 175 MHz. Also has a built-in crystal calibrator. I am selling this unit for an elderly friend of mine who has owned it for many years and now he needs to downsize. As you can see from the photos. It is in very nice condition. The transformer on the side of the case is original, not a modification. There are no modifications to this unit that I can see. I briefly tested this unit and was able to produce a signal on both an AM broadcast receiver and a shortwave receiver. That was the extent of my testing. Vintage Signal Corps BC-221-J 125-20.000KHz Frequency Meter in exceptional condition with calibration charts and power supply. Interesting that this one was made by Zenith Radio Corporation. The Power Supply is located at the bottom of the unit and it looks more modern than the frequency meter, I did not plug it in a power outlet since the cord seemed unsafe with brittle plastic cover, please, see picture. I have not carried out any test so I do knot know if it works, although given the excellent condition of the equipment and that it was made for military application, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked as originally designed. There is a spare parts compartment with tune holders which contained replacement tubes which are not included in this auction. I'm saving these tubes to list with other military equipment replacement tubes ... moredown the road. Great collector's item too, the nice black cabinet is in great shape- no rust, dents, dings, deep scratches or additional holes, it is also a nice addition to Zenith collectors. You are bidding on a low band Motorola MaxTrac that has been modified for 99 modes(frequencies) and 6 meter Amateur radio service. This radio is in VG used condition and the receiver meets factory specs of.35uV/12dB SINAD across the 6 meter Amateur radio band and the transmitter makes 72-75W at 14V across the 6 meter band. This radio has been correctly modified for 99 frequencies by replacing the 2K EEPROM with an 8K EEPROM and initialized as a 99 frequency radio with a custom amateur 99 frequency firmware installed developed by Ken Martin AJ4KS that corrects all of the erratic power and modulation issues common when converting a MaxTrac to 6 meters. The 6 meter conversion includes RECEIVER, VCO and PA mods. Sierra 303B Frequency Selective Level Meter MW/VLF / Ham Radio Receiver
This Sierra 303B Frequency Selective Level Meter appears to be working OK. But I have no idea if everything is up to specs. I have no info on it. All I did to test it was to use a 20' wire antenna to pick up AM stations and tune up and down the band. Below the AM band I got mostly a LOT of noise most likely due to it operating next to my computer, a wonderful RF hash generator! The only quirky thing I noticed is. Sometimes when the unit is first turned on, the last 1 or 2 readout digits might not come on. A little tap to the readout face and they come right on. Maybe this is from sitting for years, or getting ready to go bad. I bought it over 6 years ago and it's been just sitting here! Cosmetically. It has some light wear, and some paint missing where it looks like a label of some sort was removed. Unfortunately. Thanks to eBay's/Paypal's ... morenew policies regarding returns, we will no longer sell most items as working, but rather"officially" as parts, not working. This one is in some times running condition. Some days it starts and operates fine and then other days it will hang in boot-up. I have traced the problem to 5 volt supply being pulled to 3 volts by the divider board, I am assuming a bad cap. If the board is unplugged 5 volt supply returns to 5 volts and the system will boot. When the system does boot all functions are working correctly but are not calibrated exact due to the voltage fluctuating. The unit has some chipping paint on the exterior of the hard metal case. The unit was not fully tested however given a detailed inspection. The unit was not powered up. This unit has been modified with an AC power supply. The power supply contains 1ea OD3 and 1ea 80 tubes. The batteries are not present. No carrying strap present however there is a metal carrying handle built in. This unit contains 3 tubes. The tubes were not removed for testing but they look strong(1ea 6A7 and spare. 1ea VT-76 and spare and 1ea 6SJ7Y(VT-116-B) and spare) There is also a crystal that looks like a tube(1ea DC-9-C 1000KCS) The frequency scale moves and functions properly. ... moreAll buttons operates properly and lines up with selected setting.
