It comes in an original box(not the original meter box for the meter) but an original simpson box. The panel cut out for the meter is on the bottom of the box. It has all(4) mounting nuts w/ washers and is jumpered in the shorted condition. I cannot test the meter but based on the look and shape of it, one shouldn't have any issues. As far as I can tell it has never been used but I am stating it to be used/old. The bezel is free from discoloration, scratches, nick or chips, glass and dial are clean and in great shape. The unit appears to be in quite clean condition with all knobs present and intact. There is a slight discoloration to a blank portion of the meter face which we deem fully restorable. We have not tested this unit as its capacitors should be carefully checked during initial refurb and restoration. But we will guarantee the unit to be complete. As you can see in the photos there is some wear and it is does not have it's original box. On the back side of the meter. There is some information: The"SEALED DO NOT OPEN" sticker is intact and looks like it has not been tampered with. All of this is inside of a circle is silk screened onto, is barely readable and intact on its back side. The back side connections are the ones designed to be used by soldering on the wires directly on to the two terminals. They have had wires mounted on them before. As you can see some of the solder residue and the solder resin still on the connection terminals in the pictures. On the front side of the panel meter you can see marks from where this panel meter was mounted in a panel and there is some missing paint and small scratches from where this panel meter was mounted and the paint was chipped. With the Hewlett 5210A Frequency Meter/FM Discriminator you can easily directly measure the frequency or repetition rate of signals from 3Hz to 10MHz. Independent of input voltage waveform. A sensitivity control allows for measurement of noisy signals. The special log linear scale offers an accuracy of 1% of reading from 10% of full scale up. The 5210A is also a wide band highly linear FM discriminator with a 3 dB output bandwidth of better than 1MHz for precise measurement on FM and PM signals. Homebrew (?) Heterodyne Frequency Meter - Amazing Construction Quality!
Amazing piece of homebrew test equipment. The machining of the 1/4 inch thick aluminum is very professionally done. As is the rest of the construction. I am guessing this was meant to mix an unknown frequency with an internally generated frequency and heterodyne the result to somewhere. Though I'm not sure why you would want to do that vs. just measure/ examine the unknown frequency directly with a scope, for example. Be that as it may. The output is spot-on at 4 MHz, 2 MHz, 1 MHz, 100 KC, and 10 KC. At the very least you can use it to generate those frequencies. The speaker is an 8 ohm Jensen. About 5" and in good condition. the equipment does generate an audible tone. The cord is starting to dry out. I don't know that all features work as they should. So this is being sold for parts, NOT WORKING. It's pretty heavy so be ... moreaware.
