This is an early 25 amp. Ammeter. That I believe dates between 1892 to the late 1890s. It was made by the Thomson-Houston system. They merged with the Edison General Electric Company in 1892 to form the General Electric Company. Since the General Electric Company name is on the tag. It means this meter can date no earlier than 1892. Elihu Thomson's patent issue date can be seen on the meter tag. I would think to reproduce this cover in near exact likeness of the original would not be difficult or expensive. To give you an idea of how well this meter is constructed. I am not sure, but I think the very tip seems bent. Kit has 3 shunts: 300 AMP 100MV No 17145, 30 AMP 100MV Model 280 No 17145, 3 AMP 100MV Model 280 No 17145, and a"Resitance" piece. Leather case is ripped in one corner and does not have a lid, but does have a strap.

Vintage gereral electric co. lynn mass. U.s.a. alternating current ammeter stadardizing laboratory, type P3 No. 780169, capacity 200 amperes, last tested august 22, 1925. Wooden case(8"X8"X51/2) and hardware are intact. The out side of box has scratches. Nicks, and small white paint specks and one of the legs is wore down. Inside the box is nice condition. Up for sale is an antique Jewell Electrical Instrument Co. AC ammeter made in Chicago USA. Dial face reads- A.C. Ammeter. Dept V, For Model E, D& V Sec. Coils Only" Size 6-7/8” across face, the base is 7-1/4” and meter stands 3-1/2” high. Both ranges– 1.0 and 2.0 amps– tested and working fine, and needle moves smoothly and evenly throughout entire range with no sticking or hesitating. With 3 large brass binding posts on side. In what I would call excellent condition– glass window excellent with no cracks or chips, the brass zeroing screw works fine, all brass binding posts complete and working smoothly, original black paint with minimal loss and only light wear, and cast iron body with no cracks, chips or damage. The needle moves, the slider locks at each different setting, and the top opens and closes, the case has some broken stitching on the top edges, the lath has oxidized as has the leather strap, and there is tape holding the bottom on/closed but, there are no major scratches, and no chips or ... morecracks. The volt ammeter is black with a silver tone opening top and an analog gauge with volts and amperes on it as well as an adjuster for different volts and amperes; the case is leather with a metal clasp and leather strap.
