GE Voltmeter Department Defense Plant PC#236-1 AUSCO. Alternating Current 600 volt Type P-3 made March 22, 1943. Was also calibrated in 1965. Has brass military tag that reads: Property of Defense Plant Corporation. An Instrument of the United States Government, DPC 236-1 AUSCO, Serial number 1313570. Unit has a dual scale: 0 to 75(volts? and also 0 to 600(volts)I assume by how you have it hooked up. I have no instructions or accessories for this. I have not tested or know how to test. Also says inside the box on scale under the clear glass where you cant easily see it: NO: 1313570 Type: P-3. NP: 44484 Model 8AP3VBB1, DPC 236-1/AUSCO. Box has some nicks and maybe some hairline fractures. But inside its nearly mint. Leather strap also missing. This listing is for a laboratory quality AC voltmeter with four voltage ranges. Manufactured by Westinghouse Electric& Manufacturing Company in Pittsburgh, PA. It is a Type PC Portable Voltmeter, and it is mounted in a wooden case that is in good condition but shows some wear. The initial calibration date was in October 1928, and it was most recently calibrated in July of 1952. I verified its operation on the 75 volt scale and it appears to work as it should. It also has voltage scales of 150, 300, and 750 volts, but I did not test these. This could be used as an impressive conversation piece or could be used as a precision AC voltmeter. There are no chips or cracks in the reddish brown and black bakelite case. The glass face has no chips or cracks. Meter arm moves freely when you move the piece around. There are 2 lead wires included with this meter. Both appear to be original and of the same period. There is some elecrical tape on the end of each wire by the metal electrodes. The outdated dual banana input and rear panel output connectors have been replaced with ground-isolated BNCs. Some internal components have been replaced and the rear panel'AC Output' voltage now exactly tracks the meter's deflection. Something the original design did not do. Seen at the botton of the page are two screen photos from an HP 3577 Network Analyzer driven from the'AC Output' The 3577 was set to its 1Megohm input impedance and as can be seen. The frequency responses meet the HP specification provided on the back of the 400FL. Internally. The tantalum coupling capacitor in the feedback loop of the JFET input stage has been replaced with an essentially zero leakage, stacked foil ... morefilm capacitor. The voltage divider that sets the input stage bias voltage has been changed from a 100K single-turn pot between two 242K resistors across the plus/minus 26V rails to a 20K. 10-turn pot between two 280K resistors between those same rails. This allows the correct input offset and-6.00V bias to be easily and accurately set. The'AC Output' circuitry has been changed to a 50ohm output impedance that must be loaded with a 100Kohm load.
