Dumore No. 14 Tom Thumb Tool Post Grinder Model# 8069- 240. Nice older grinder for machine shop use in good working order. Parts list sheet is dated 1946 so I am dating this grinder to that era. Grinder runs smooth. Switch works, comes with accessories shown. Grinder is old and may need new brushes, doesn't smell like burnt brushes when running but, again grinder is old. Case shows some light rust but is solid.

A local vocational trade school has closed its machine shop program. The central machine shop as well as the smaller satellite shops are in the process of liquidating the tools and machinery. Up for auction is a nice old Dumore#44 tool post grinder in the original box with many accessories. There are several size collets and the chuck to hold them. And some grinding wheels and grinding stones. Wrench, and a rare grinding shaft guard. The grinder has been tested and works well. It can be powered with any electrical cord which gets plugged into the motor(shown on one photo) The box is in very good condition and the latches and hinges are all present and work well. The motor plate says"1/4 HP 3.6 amps- full load 7000 rpm- no load 13000 rpm. Weighs about 33 pounds for shipping. Shipping calculator will tell you shipping costs to you. So I am assuming that these stones were to be used on those models. The wheels all appear to be new and unused, but as they have been removed from their original packaging I represent them as being in used condition. The center bores are primarily 1/2" to 3/4" diameter, and the wheel diameters range from 3" to 6" The stones shown mounted on the 1/4" shanks are also included(some of these are in used condition) Also, there are probably a few more stones than are shown in the picture, but everything with this lot will be included.

N.J. and I found out on line they are still in business today and as far as I can see still make the same grinders and accessories. precise toolpost grinder for lathe tool post
This is an old toolpost grinder from an estate. I plugged it in for about 1 second to hear it spin up then unplugged it and did that again 5 or 6 times just to ensure that it spins up. The reason I didn't run it any longer than a second or two at a time is to avoid damaging the bearings. This thing probably hasn't been run in 30 years and the bearings need to be lubed with fresh high speed bearing lube(this is a 40.000 rpm motor) This is not a sealed bearing unit as newer motors are.it is old style where you lube the bearings after something like 40 hours of use. The box contains the necessary wrenches for the grinder including a collet spanner wrench. It also includes the lathe toolpost adapter to hold the grinder in the toolpost. It also includes a very small(looks like an eighth inch) collet accessory and another clamp type device ... morewhich I have no info about. There is also quite a bit of paperwork(instruction manual, etc) and a special"lube gun" which has the special high speed lube still in it, however, I wouldn't use the lube in the gun at all.it's probably as old as the grinder. The grinder itself has two cracks in the plastic housing(rear housing) which seem to be stable(you can't flex them at all) and have absolutely no effect on the motor that I can tell, and if you were concerned about those cracks, I would just put a screw type hose clamp around that part of the housing for added support. The cord has some tape on it near the plug where someone has repaired it, and the strain relief for the power core needs to be replaced as the rubber has deteriorated and come apart at the body of the motor. The box itself is steel and undamaged(perfectly functional) but the finish is rough.kinda rusty looking with no paint left on it. If you lube it up properly, it should make a good toolpost grinder.
