51" X 39" X 2" Thick Cast Iron Surface Plate "Webbed"
This auction is for a used 39" wide by 51" long by 2" thick"webbed"cast iron surface plate sold exactly as shown in these pictures( I will add better pictures of it's front face tomorrow-see pic#5) It is rusty but solid without any cracks. Etc It has a rabbited outside edge around it's top face that is about 3/4" wide and about one tenth of an inch deep(see pics#3 and 4) I tried cleaning up a small corner of the front face and it showed very little pitting(see pic#4) Clean it up yourself and use it as is or have it blanchard ground to give it a"new" surface This cast iron surface plate is very heavy! Selling a Precision granite surface plate 6ft x 8ft x 1ft thick in good condition. Plate has no cracks and only a very small chip on one of the edges barely seen on one of the pictures. This plate has been flipped over because holes were drilled on the other side for mounting specialty equipment when used at Boeing aircraft. This side is not as precise as the backside but has no holes. the backside is ground to.0001's precision. This side is about.001's precision. It has worked great for me on large parts. You can send it out to Precision, or probably any granite surface plate manufacturer in your area) and have it precision ground to.0001's precision for about $800. I never needed that kind of precision. It is difficult to find such a large granite plate weighing over 8,000 and still in this condition.
