VINTAGE SOUTH BEND PIKE-ORENO C. 1930's WOODEN GREENBACK/SILVER FLITTER
Good morning to all! Today I am attempting to describe several vintage/antique fishing lures and hope that I can do them justice. I have consulted 8 different collectors' books in an effort to date these lures. This listing is for a vintage c. 1930's South Bend PIKE-ORENO. It is clearly marked on the downward facing metal lip mounted under its red tipped nose. Has a 1' wire leader attached here, features 2 treble hooks and is approximately 4-1/4" long. This lure is crafted from wood and I believe its eyes are tack. The yellow body with green back and silver flitter paint has some crazing, with minor paint loss down to the wood behind its eyes and one spot in front of the eye. Please advise if I have given incorrect information about this lure-I will be happy to revise any errors. Vintage South Bend SpinCast 700 Reel
This is a very unusual vintage reel. I do not know the precise date of manufacture. But I am guessing that it is around the mid-1950's. The"Care and Use"pamphlet for the SpinCast 700(included with the reel) states that it can be used as a bait casting, spinning, or fly casting reel(see illustrations in photo of pamphlet) To operate as a bait casting reel, use the larger thumb hole to control the line. For spinning and fly casting, hold the line with the forefinger, and back up the crank slightly to release the line for casting. The reel weighs only 6.5 oz. lighter than some fly reels. I must confess, I have never fished this reel. It was my father's and I am not even sure he fished it either. With the exception of a single small dent/scratch near the larger thumb hole(visible in a photo) there are no marks of wear on the ... morereel. This is a very unique reel, whether you plan to use it or display it.

Beautiful Vintage South Bend Bamboo Fly Rod 2pc 7’ w/ Sock and Tube This amazing rod has stood up against the test of time beautifully. The rod is stamped: South Bend A Name Famous in Fishing No. 469… 7’ Use Excel-Oreno Line HCH or D The bamboo is in great shape with no visible cracks or splintering. There arecreases and slight flaking in the varnish and it is easier to feel than see but I attempted to photograph it any how(see photos) All of the wrapping is in good shape and all of the guides and tip loop are matching. The pieces fit together. The cork is used and has signs of wear with one small chunk missing on the bottom. The reel seat has some paint missing. But the aluminum feet are in great condition, there might be a small screw missing from the seat, but I am not sure if one ever existed there(see photo) The seat is firmly secure ... morewithout it. The adjustment screw at the bottom is functioning. The rod comes with its rod sock and aluminum tube. The tube is missing its cap. This is a used vintage rod and while I tried to describe it the best I can I am not an expert in bamboo. So please look over the pictures and ask questions you have before bidding. This auction includes the rare non-cataloged Wounded Minnow wood lure carefully packaged for the winner. The lure comes from our good friend J.V. and his lifelong collection. Watch for lots of lures and lots lots more! LURE MARKINGS: The lure is unmarked. As explained in the book on South Bend lures. This came from either an EMPLOYEE or is considered EXPERIMENTAL. The ... morelure is non-cataloged. The age is unknown but believed to be post-1936 as that's when South Bend began using Tack Eyes. WOUNDED MINNOW" LURE CONDITION: The lure measures aprox. 3-3/4" long. Both props are unmarked as is the leader wire. The non-cataloged lure is the combo of the Injured Minnow and the Wounded Minnow only bigger. Note the longer tapered body style. This one also has a flat bottom. This Aluminum paint rubs easy so you can see tackle box rubbing throughout. The Tack Eyes both have paint wear or chipping. With lure facing right we see a nice looking side as there are no serious nicks just pin prick size nicks above the eye. No major paint loss anywhere. The top has the general rubbing of the paint and just a few small scattered nicks. The left side looks good. There's a small paint flake in front of the eye. One nick near the tail. The belly of this must have laid in the tackle box and is very soiled as compared to the rest of the lure. The hooks and hardware are aged and tarnished as seen. This is a TRUE CLASSIC and should be considered VERY VERY RARE as the lure is non-cataloged and most likely came from some past employee. The winner is sure to b

Up for auction is a vintage. Wooden Fish-Oreno model fishing lure manufactured by South Bend intended to catch bass, pike, musky and other freshwater species. Bait measures 3-1/4" and weighs 1 oz. Bait color pattern is white with red arrowhead. This bait is beautiful. Unmarked. Bait presents fantastishemous. Choice. On the top of the head is stenciled in gold"SOUTH BEND FISH-ORENO" Bait sports cup front hook hanger and rear screw eye hook hanger. All hardware is present, intact, bright and shiney. The second is a model 972 Babe-Oreno and measures 2.75" in length. It has two treble hooks and glass eyes. The paint shows some wear and cracking(see photos) But nothing to unsightly.
