Machinist Toolmaker Milling Machine Vise Aluminum Body with Steel Plates
This is an unusual milling vise in that the body is aluminum but the base and jaws have attached steel plates. It is painted gray and there is some staining on the steel. The dimensions are 8" by 2.5" and 2.5" high. The 2.5" jaws open to 3" and the lead screw shows little to no slack. Only a couple of minor tool hits as shown in the second photo. I am selling a Palmgren 4” Milling Vise which has a Low Profile and is on a Swivel Base that is in Good Condition. My father was an automotive technician and he had a small machine shop in the garage of his house. My father has passed away and I am in the process of selling off some of the tools and equipment from my father which this vise is from. I think the vise is to be used on a mill. But I think it can also be used to hold something secure when using a drill press. I think the vise can swivel on the its base, but I loosened the 2 gray metal bolts and 2 gray metal washers to swivel the vise and it will not swivel, so I am not sure if the vise does swivel or if it is just stuck. When the clamping portion of the vise is opened up all the way the inside length of the clamping portion measures approximately 3 ¼” The vise is made completely ... morefrom metal with the top and sides of the metal of the vise having a light green color to it while the rest of the vise such as the very bottom, where the vise slides back and forth on the top, and where the numbers and measurements are engraved on the swivel portion being in gray metal. The table has three 10 mm T slots. There are 8 feeds rates from 3/8 to 2 1/8 In.Min. The power feed is engaged via the front hand crank. Travel limits can be set to disengage the power feed. The hand crank then is used to rapid traverse the table. The spindle taper is a W-20MM in both spindles.
