1740 Rack Striking Gut Fusee Small Clock Movement & Brass Dial w/ Wind Indicator
Circa 1740 twin fusee movement and brass dial. The beautiful. Hand hammered dial is 8 3/8" in diameter. It has what appears to be a wind indicator, with a disc numbered 1 thru 8. Dial is engraved; Wm. Tarless, Junior, London. It still has much of its original black wax infill in the numbers. A previous owner has replaced the dial feet, but they look to be in the original location, with no extra holes in movement or dial. Small size, twin, gut wound, fusee movement has rack striking. Nice, early, finned pilars. The movement plates are 5" tall and 2 7/8" wide at the bottom tapering to 2 3/4"wide at the top. 2 5/16"dia. bell. Looks mostly complete. It will tick, if you put pressure on the wheels. And will strike and gather when you put pressure on the strike train. I see that the fly and the hour wheel and pipe are missing. ... moreOtherwise looks about complete and could be made to work. It has both springs and they feel intact. The mechanism that ran the small dial is no longer present, but you can see on the upper right of the plate where it would have been located. Sold as is.

This is an original WW 2 Carburator air temperature gauge instrument as used in the famous P-51 Mustang USAAF Fighter. This gauge is in very good used condition. This gauge provided the pilot with the temperature of the air going into the carburator. This instrument is sold as is and may not work but it appears to be okay. The North American P-51 Mustang is the most popular fighter aircraft of WW 2.The Mustang had the ability to protect the bombers for a much longer range than any previous fighter. Today there are over 200 P-51 Mustangs still flying. This gauge is being sold as is. It has not been tested and may not work.
