South Bend Heavy 10 lathe with taper attachment. Hard to find 4.5' hardened bed. Ways are in superb shape with only superficial nicks, V's are smooth showing no ware throughout the length. Has double tumbler gear box and the better cam operated apron clutch. Spindle is 2 1/4"8tpi and 1 3/8" through hole. Motor is 1hp 220volt 3 phase and comes with electronics, all you need is power. The taper attachment has a broken locking lever, otherwise its all there. Thread dial is included. Cabinet is 65" x 25" Lots of tooling included also. A Rohm Supra chuck and a Grand live center. A South Bend brand 5" 3-jaw reversible chuck with backing plate. A 7" face plate and a 6" 3-jaw(2piece! Buck chuck no back plate. There is also a Phase 2 wedge type quick-change tool post set which includes a knurling holder, ... moreboring, parting and 2x turning holders. Vintage Brass Precision Lathe Model A Machine Chart South Bend Sign!
Here I have an old brass Precision Lathe brass chart#1 Model A machine badge. It is off a South Bend Twins engine lathe machine. The chart looks great with bright colors but the holes on the corners are all in need off repair if u want it to install. Whoever took it off the machine must have just pulled it off without removing the attached corners. It has some dents and little dings to the brass but nothing terrible or unexpected. Very nice South Bend Light 10" Model A, lathe. It has a rare 54" gap bed that allows it to swing right at 15" It comes with a fair amount of tooling including a taper attachment, steady rest Jacobs No 14 drill chuck, live center, dog plate, lantern tool post, tool holders, 5" 3 jaw and a 6" four jaw chuck. 1 1/2" by 8 spindle threads and 55/64" between 3/4 and 7/8) through hole. The serial number indicates it was manufactured in 1960 and I don't believe it was ever more than a home shop machine. No apparent wear on the lead screw or bed. It runs quiet and smooth. Comes on a heavy duty stand. I could deliver it within 150 miles of Yreka, CA for a nominal fee.

Rare South Bend 9" Metal Lathe Pristine Cond. Gunsmith Loaded W/tooling 110v
Lightly used near Pristine South Bend 9"X24" metal lathe with tooling purchased from the original owner. Purchased in about 1950 serial number is 21059NKR7 model number 344ZD. Powered by 110volt with reversing drum switch. The ways on this machine are one step short of perfect. The scrapings are crisp and clearly visible from front to back on all ways. The back lash is 1/8 turn on cross and compound. The chuck has never hit the compound or carriage. The paint is original with a little rubbed off in places from cleaning. The cabinet and chip pan are clean and in near perfect condition. This lathe has never been really dirty. All corners are clean as new. The gears are all perfect and pretty clean. This is the nicest best kept South Bend we have ever seen loaded with tooling. The lathe runs as good as it looks. All functions work ... moregreat and it has a new flat belt. SOUTH BEND 16 ENGINE LATHE PLUS ACCESSORIES NO RESERVE - NO KIDDING
SOUTH BEND 16 ENGINE LATHE: I've used this machine for many years. It's a champ. Nothing beats a belt driven spindle for thread cutting, you get really smooth threads with no'artifacts' from the drive gearing. Despite this machine's age it runs very quietly(with the lead screw disengaged you barely hear it running at all) Hand scraping marks are visible on the ways at the tail end, less so at the head end. There are no breaks and no repairs to the castings. This machine has not been abused but shows signs of normal wear. HISTORY AND USE: I've owned this machine for close to 25 years. It's never seen much production work being used mostly as a tool room lathe to make forming rollers and metal spinning mandrels. We've also used it plenty of times to support maintenance work in the shop and to develop parts for ... morespecial projects. The lathe is very stout and well built. Using good sharp tooling if you dial a.025" cut, you get an.025" cut in brass& alum and.0235" 025" in steel. There is some backlash in the cross slide. I don't find it objectionable but you may want to drop a fresh screw and nut in to eliminate it, these parts are readily available at reasonable cost from a number of sources. Thread cutting is a job on this lathe. Internal or external it just does a great job. If you are serious about tooling up this machine(or one like it) Check out our other auctions over the next month or so, there will be a number of lots of nice Aloris type tool holders, insert tools, tool post grinder, collets, chucks etc. I've never been able to find a serial number on this lathe. I've searched in all the places it might be to no avail. I've been told"that's impossible" by a number of sources which I see as normal because we're dealing with the'impossible' all the time, right? We have owned this lathe for 2 years and purchased it from a local high school machine shop that purchased it new in the late 70's and stopped teaching classes in the early 80's. As you can see in the pictures and videos below the ways on this machine are in great condition. We have replaced the coolant line to the carriage. Fabricated a new splash guard and repainted the entire lathe. Also included is the metric thread cutting gear. There is no tool post or red flexible coolant line included with this lathe, they were only installed for demostration purposes.
