The top is grooved for easy removal& pouring with Crucible tongs(We have the tongs in our ebay store) Size is OD of the bottom part that goes in the furnace is 1-11/16" so its designed for the furnace that has a 1 3/4" opening. It goes down into the furnace 4 1/16" from the bottom of the top ring. This is the model with the small space in the bottom for the heating element that comes up from the bottom of the furnace. High temperature horizontal inert atmosphere furnace with graphite heaters
This Lindberg Horizontal Vacuum Furnace is designed to produce extreme high temperature in an inert gas environment. Heating elements are cut from a graphite sheet half inch thick and can be made as requested. The two heaters are on the right and left side of a rectangular box two feet long and 8x8" in cross section. The graphite insulation is approximately 2 inch thick. The graphite heaters are fed independently with high current. Low voltage AC power supplies regulated through magnetic saturation Two wo 40 kVA power supply are part of the installation. 2 Pcs Bismuth Metal Element Disks Diamagnetic Levitation not Pyrolytic Graphite
This auction is for the two bismuth metal disks shown in the photos. Bismuth is the 2nd most diamagnetic material available(at room temp) only behind pyrolytic graphite. The disks are roughly 1.38" dia. X 0.150" thk and 1.39" dia. X 0.154" thk. They weigh ~1.2 oz each. They have some minor dings and scratches(one side better than the other on each) from checking to make sure they work and taking the photos-which is why I list them as used. The may also have small imperfections from crystal formation during cooling. The magnet in the photos is a 1/4" square X 1/8" thk and I think a grade 40. Which I will include in the auction. You supply the lifter magnet. The gap shown in the photo is a little over a 1/4" Different size and strength magnets will require a different gap. The last picture shows that you can ... morelevitate the magnet with only the lower disk, though if you bump it, there's a good chance the floating magnet will jump up and snap against the lifter magnet. RARE ANTIQUE J.T. WING DETROIT MICH 10 LB? BAR OF COPPER HARDENED GRAPHITE METAL
For auction is a rare unusual antique bar of metal. This great advertising piece is from the J.T. Wing Company of Detroit Michigan. The bar says Copper Hardened High Speed Graphite Metal. The bar to me feels about 10 pounds. However do not have a scale. The bar measures 9 7/8 inches long on the bottom by 2 1/8 inches wide by 1 inch thick. As seen in the photos it has scratches, nicks and other wear from storage. J.T. Wing is a company dating back to the 1890's that did lots of metal fabrication on ships and bridges and other industrial projects. Very cool advertising metal bar.
