This item is an obsolete manufacturing item. It was used in the manufacture of electronic controlled equipment as a heat shield. I thought someone could use the metal for some project hobby or otherwise. The metal is.50" Stainless Steel. Probably the 304 type. As to the holes they are.191 inches in diameter and spaced.811 inches apart center to center. The rows are staggered to maintain the.811" centers. Overall size is 7.25" x 9.5" x 1.375" Three sides are bent down 1.375" and one long side bent down 1/4" The corners are open, sides not touching. Material is 0.050" thick or approximately 18 gauge. Brass, Aluminum, and Steel - Bar, Round, and Sheet Stock
Up for sale is some Brass. Aluminum, and Steel stock. I picked this up from an estate about a year ago. The gentleman was a railroad modeler and a scale steam engine modeler. Pretty cool hobby. These metals were in a foam lined carrying case.they had been there for so long that the foam had deteriorated in a million pieces. They adhered to teh metals to varying degrees and I tried to scrape most fo the stuff off. For the buyer. You will need to clean these metals prior to use. These are not store bought and resold. Take a close look at the photos as what you see is what you get. Various, shapes, sizes, lengths, etc… I will need to cut a few pieces down to fit in a flat rate box and after the sale, I will coordinate that with the buyer. EXTREMELY RARE Youngstown Sheet & Tube Steel Basketball Pole Brier Hill
Up for auction is an EXTREMELY RARE piece of Youngstown Steel history! I grew up in Youngstown and my father worked in the Steel Industry for 30 years! My dad contacted some of his friends at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and had them take sections of 4 1/2 inch galvanized steel conduit and make a basketball pole. There are 2 straight sections and a curved section that you attach with threaded couplers. Also a steel threaded plate that you attach the backboard to. Total height is over 13 feet tall. Plenty of room to bury the base in the ground. See pics) Well shortly after getting the pole, September 19. 1977 came! Also known in the Mahoning Valley as Black Monday. It was the beginning of the end for the steel industry in Youngstown! We were one of the many families that moved and the pole was carried from Youngstown to New Jersey to South Carolina ... moreand back to Ohio, never being put in the ground! My dad gave me the pole before he passed and I have had it for over 12 years, carrying it from house to house as I have moved. Finally realizing I will never put it in the ground and what a RARE and EXCEPTION this piece is I have decided to put it on eBay. I obviously can't ship it but will store it free of charge to the winning bidder, just make proper arrangements. Very nice sheet of stainless steel- unknown grade- a few dents. Dings and scratches in the surface- the worst two dents are pictured. Edge of sheet is very nice all around. Was removed from a VERY high end laboratory freezer that had been scrapped by a local University.
