Antique Lightning Rod Ball-Red Glass-Copper Ends-Lightning strike burn dimple?
Antique Lightning Rod Ball of Red Glass with Copper ends and what appears to be a burn dimple from a lightning strike. The glass has areas of minor surface scratches. The Copper ends have minor surface corrosion and have a 7/8" inch opening to receive the rod. The ball measures 5" inches in diameter and does have side seams. The"burn dimple" has the appearance of high temperature heat effecting the composition of the glass causing it to dimple inwards and changing the transparent glass to a dull and multicolored finish in that one particular spot. The dimple measures 1" inch in diameter and has a center point of impact where it dimples inward further( a dimple in the center of the dimple) The lightning strike burn dimple is a theory and not fact. But it has all of the characteristics of glass being exposed to extremely ... morehigh temperature heat concentrated on one spot for an instant without breaking the glass. Unique item!

Primitive Old Vintage Copper Lightning Rod GORGEOUS Oxidized Patina We traveled an hour and a half South into central Illinois for a football game this week. And I took the opportunity of going treasure hunting in the cornfields. I found a surprising variety– there’s something for everyone this week! Here is a fabulous oldoldold vintage well used lightning rod for you. It's made from copper. And has a KILLER green oxidized patina that is well worn from age and use. Meauring 20 1/2" tall, the rod is a smidge under 3/4" at its thickest and the mounting base measures 9 1/2" wide end to end, and it's 1 3/4" thick. You can see seven mounting holes on each side of the mounting arms and on one side, you can see an open tube with the cut ends of copper wiring seen on either side of the tube. It is in excellent solid and ... moresturdy structural condition. The rod- I cannot find a ding. The mounting arms have hills and valleys in the copper from the mounting/when it was mounted and you can see depressions around the mounting holes, but that's all part of its story- I wouldn't change a thing! It does not stand well on it's own, it will lean off to one side, so you'd definitely need to mount in order to display or use, or at least lean it as I am in my photos! You can see the remnants of white paint on the piece- both the tip of the rod, in lighter spots on the body of the rod, and on the mounting arms- this comes from painting the house around the rod without removing it. What you see most when looking at this beauty, though, is the gorgeous green oxidation and the dark patina of the copper that takes on a red hue in the right light. It weighs 1 1/2 lbs, so is pretty hefty for its size. I just can't say enough about this beauty. Love it! Customer Satisfaction is extremely important to me. 30.5 FEET OLD ANTIQUE COPPER LIGHTNING ROD WIRE
This is good used copper ground lighting wire that is 30.5 feet long and 3/8 inch thick. If you have a lightning rod for looks or for building protection(to prevent fire) you should ground the building to a ground rod in the ground and this is the wire to use. This applies to any metal on the roof that could attract lightning. I am selling other lengths in other listing in case you need to splice to make a longer length or need a shorter length for lawn sheds etc. It does have a little white paint on part of it that is coming off.
