This is a beautiful vintage silver butter dish with removable glass base. This set is in great pre-owned condition. And has been stored in a smoke free home since purchase. I cannot find a name or stamp of any kind on this piece. I assume it is silver plate. But I honestly don't know for sure. It is a pretty piece that features a handle in the back where you can set a butter knife, and it has an inside removable glass base which is great for easy clean-up. They were captured using the age-old method of lost-wax casting and stained with a brown patina finish for perpetuation. The 100% handmade bronze sculpture is mounted upon a black marble base with the artist Milo's signature. The Art of Lost Wax Lost wax casting has been around for thousands of years. Yet few people ... moreunderstand how the process actually works. Although mechanization has facilitated the lost wax process of bronze casting. The procedure is basically the same as that used by the Chinese when they first developed the process in the 2nd millennium BC. The Rubber Mold First the artist creates an original sculpture out of any number of media. Including stone, wax, clay, wood and pottery. This image is coated with a silicone rubber molding material that makes two rubber mold halves(each rubber mold has a front and a back piece) A fiberglass outer shell is added to the back of each mold so it retains its shape and rigidity during subsequent uses. These molds are the only components that are ever re-used in the casting process. All other components are re-created for each casting. The Wax Positive Once the molds are done. The insides are coated with layers of wax. The halves are then bound together and wax poured inside to complete the wax image being created. Once the wax has cooled. The detailing is well done on the lid and figure. On the puddle towel at her feet is impressed copy right USA. The figure has been bent at the ankles. As received from previous owner, as she is on an angle. There is wearing on the silver plate and a couple of dints in the edge of the top that sits on the base. As can be seen in the photo. The top is threaded as if a shade would have screwed on? It has a cable and plug and it works perfectly- just needs a shade. It stands 33cm tall. The base has a diameter of 21cm. About a year ago my grandmother died and we had to go through her house to divide everything. She had kept all of my grandfathers things and in them there was a box of cufflinks which no one knew what to do with so I asked if I could try to sell them on ebay. I liked the fact that there are so many different types and that they are jewelry made from many different metals. Plus easy to ship. These are made by a company called Swank who started making mens jewelry in 1929. These look sharp and would look great with many different colored coats. WW2 Japanese Type 14 Nambu Pistol 8 Round Magazine Nickle Plated Alumnium Base
These nickel plated Type 14 Nambu 8 round magazines are generally associated with the early small trigger guard pistol. However they will fit the later large trigger guard Type 14's as well. This must have been sent back to the arsenal and re-numbered to another issued pistol. Kind of an oddity and something not found that often. Would make a great collectible extra piece for your WW2 Japanese collection.
