US Army Medical Corporal IV Corps Tunic, WWI Original
US Army Medical Corporal IV Corps Tunic. WWI Original Description This olive drab cotton tunic was used by a corporal of the US Army Medical Corps during World War I. Presumably attached to the IV Corps.the shoulder sleeve insignia are oddly placed as can be seen in the pictures. The Medical Corporal's rank stripe is correct on the upper right sleeve, and interestingly enough, the IV Corps patch in sewn at the top of the right rather than left sleeve, which would be the expected placement. Instead, at the top of the left sleeve is a Medical Corps PFC disc.and there are no stitch marks on the inside of the tunic to indicate than anything else ever was sewn there. I can only surmise that, for whatever reason, this is, indeed, the way it was worn-and I've been doing this long enough to know full well that insignia anomalies for World ... moreWar I tunics are legion! The bronze collar badges are nicely matched in tone. The tunic has no damages save two 1/4" reddish-brown stains on the left rear skirt. And has all of its removable bronze buttons. It's quite large, which is unusual for the period-the chest is about 42" the waist abut 38" and the sleeve(from the center of the base of the collar, across the shoulder and down to the edge of the cuff) is about 34" The neck measures about 16" These correspond very closely with the Philadelphia QM cloth label sewn in the neck of the tunic.
