This is an antique set of a single syringe. 4 needles, 3 vials, and a metal tube in their original metal case. It was used for insulin administration. Syringe: marked B-D Yale insulin, 7161y, Becton Dickenson& Co. 1cc, 20 units and 40 units. It is glass without the Luer- Lok connection. Glass vials: 3 of them, one without a cork. One of them contains a finely wrapped packet of very fine wires. The vials are 2 1/2 inches long. Needles: 4 of them. Two of them are marked Yale rustless B-D 25, Pa. No 2076121. One of these has a very fine wire extending from where it attaches to the syringe. 1 3/4" long. The third syringe is shorter with wire extending thru the needle and is 1 1/2" Marked Eisele-26. Becton Dickinson Syringe Needles Vials in Metal Case w/ Felt Cover Shiny hinged metal case measures 3-1/2" long. 1-3/4" wide, 3/4" deep. Button release still works. Inside are a glass syringe. Two needles in a metal holder, and 4 yellow glass vials with cork stoppers. All are secured indide the case with metal clasps so they do not move. The syringe is labeled in red etching: LUER. TRADE B-D MARK, BectonDickinson& Co, and grade marks up to 1-1/2 CC and 25 M. The syringe has a metal ring with spring that holds it in place. I am guessing this is used to mark a level on the syringe during use. Does the syringe pull out? I do not know and, as I not familiar with how to treat this kind of medical instrument I am not going to try! The two needles fit snug in their holder. They look to be different lengths and the shorter one ... moreis slightly bent. The four yellow glass vials appear totally clean. I pulled one of the stoppers out and put it back and it worked fine. But then I was clumsy putting it back in its holder and broke off the top of the cork. With a careful person the corks should be fine! The green felt cover has one hole worn into it and the felt also looks like it could be slightly moth-eaten. This item comes to me from my mother who bought this at a yard sale in north-central Pennsylvania. I do not know anything about its age. Have a question? Send it along and I will answer it. B-D Becton Dickinson Burrows Faichney Thermometer set w/ case
A B-D case with 11 fever thermometers is presented for your consideration. This is a B-D thermometer case with 11 different thermometers by Burrows and Faichney. There is one thermometer missing from the set. This is a really nice set. The case has scuffs and scratches. And shows wear along the edges, especially on the top front and rear edges, which was likely caused by the act of opening and closing the case over time. The case is structurally sound. These are being sold as collectables, and therefore the accuracy of their calibration has not been verified. Most of the thermometers in this case are Burrows. Burrows was a medical supply company based near Chicago. Founded in 1932, and acquired by another company in 2008. I believe Burrows only sold to hospitals, professional offices, and healthcare providers.
