Vtg Oriental Chess Set Wood Carved Pieces Folding Wood Board Storage Drawers NR
Available for your consideration is a Vintage oriental Chess Set with folding board. Storage drawers and hand carved Wood Pieces This chess set was purchased from a Local Estate Sale, age and history unknown. It is extremely attractive and displays very well, but does have a few issues. One side of the box has a crack in the wood, it appears as if something heavy was dropped on it. marked with red in one of the pictures below- however the red circle mark is not long enough- the crack does extend the full length) Although the crack does go all the way from one side to the other, it did not go all the way through and fortunately, did not break the board inside. It does not appear to be a structural issue. Additionally the wood box. Board have overall surface scratching. The wood carved pieces also have a minimal amount of surface scratching/chipping ... morebut not bad! They also have a few areas of carving imperfections- conducive with hand carved work. The hinges on the box/ board are also a little loose. The bands that hold the pieces in place inside of the drawer are stretched out and no longer hole the pieces tight. Despite these issues. This is still a very nice set! I found a few similar on eBay in open and closed auctions, but they all had either resin or plastic pieces. This set has beautiful wood carved pieces. Pieces range in size from 3" 5" and are nicely detailed all the way around. Red felt lining to match the red felt lining inside of the drawers. Sides of wood board/box are also nicely carved, as is the boarder around the top of the board. Metal hinges and adornments are brass. I do not know what material the board is made from. The white squares have detailed oriental pictures. Closed. The board box measures approximately 18" X 9" and 5" deep. When opened. The board is approximately 18" square and 2 1/2" deep. It comes with original box- the box is taped on the bottom and shows wear. Of the six marble colors. Black and white are both missing one marble and the other 4 colors have all ten. There is some rust just beginning to show through on the bottom, regular checkers side, but the Chinese Checkers side has no visible rust. It is clean and smoke-free. All items I sell come from the secondary market(auctions. Flea markets, yard sales) Occasionally I'll find something in new condition, but most antique or collectable items will have normal expected wear for their age. My home is smoke-free and I try not to get smokey items by using the"sniff ... moretest" We have a couple of small dogs in case you're highly allergic. ANTIQUE DESK WITH DRAWERS AND STORAGE CIRCA 1880-CARVED WALNUT
Very unusual carved desk with drawers and storage. The wood appears to be dark stained Walnut. The desk is 25 inches wide. 11 1/2 inches deep and 12 1/2 inches tall. The piece was made in the late 1800's and would be ideal for a computer table or as an office cabinet to store important data. There are three 7 inch wide drawers on the left side with a full 22 inch wide top drawer. On the right side is a 7 x 7 door to a storage area. Under this is another 7 inch wide drawer. The center opening is partitioned to take stationary and accessories. Really nice, usable old piece. It is obvious the desk has been used a lot through the years. The top shows quite a bit of staining from ink. Etc. Structurally the piece is strong and secure. On the door panel on right side there is a chipping around the knob. Vintage Hallowell Metal Industrial Cabinet 18 Drawers Storage Cabinet.more pics below. Recently pulled off a garage wall in New Jersey. The old industrial cabinet is painted grey with dings and rust. Some of the drawers have metal dividers in them. As you can see this was heavily used and pictures tell the story. There is a break in center top but doesn't affect the integrity of the piece. You could easily repaint this for a great. Industrial, repurpose look. It measures 33 1/2" x 11 1/4" x 10 1/2" high. There are 18 drawers that measure 5 1/2" across x 3" tall(outside measurement) The cabinet weighs 45 lbs. This was made by Hallowell, Jenkinton, Pa. and Santa Ana, Calif. As Always.
