14 years ago. My mother-in-law came to live with us. Recently widowed, she left her house as it was, came to Oregon and said she was never going back home. We told her we would pack her house up, pack EVERYTHING, and bring here for her to sort through at her pleasure. Her house was much like a museum. She was an avid and well known antique dealer and collector in Los Angeles in the mid to later 1900's. We moved over 700 boxes of items from her house. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 6 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, ... moresome are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. I have decided to write this, and when a bit of provenance fits, I will include this introduction. These items were collected many years ago by a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Wish she was here to tell me about each item we offer, but, I am on my own, and will do my best to describe. This is a Meyers O.K. Hay Unloader. From what I researched online. This model was the Cadillac of the trolleys, it is reversible and swiveled around, making it easier for the operator in various positions. It also has a wider mouth for the hay fork pully allowing for swing as it approached a load. In the working configuration. The rope would be knotted on one end, this allows for the operator to reverse the pulley by switching rope ends, or simply swivel the lower unit around. This auction is for an antique ship's block and tackle pulley. The block is very small measuring only 3 1/2 inches long. Which is very unusual. I don't see then in this size at all around here. The Seals over the axle are embossed with a trident and the letter'BM. I don't know who that is, but it's nice to have both seals present on the piece. The block& tackle is in very good, usable condition as it is, but the wood would look much better if it was at least polished up, or refinished. There is some minor age cracking on one side of the block. The hardware is dirty and somewhat corroded, and it could also be cleaned up. The metal wheel appears to be brass and it is in good shape. I have a pair of heavy duty wire cable pulleys fort your consideration. These would have typically been used by power companies stringing power cable from tower to tower. They are in nice condition for use for any of your lifting or pulling needs on your farm. Ranch, shop or even home. There are two similar designs which look like they work the same. Both have convenient spring loaded housing for removing or installing your lines. One has a clevis attachment and the other a large hook. Some additional mounting hardware as well. Up for bids is this large antique/old vintage industrial rope pulley. Turns and works just like it should. Minor wear and cracking in the wood from age. No breaks or repairs in the iron. Nice& heavy large old pulley. Original and just as found- Great looking old patina- Would make a neat addition to any rustic setting. Normal wear from use- minor cosmetic issues such as rust.
