ANTIQUE CAST IRON PULLEY BLOCK & TACKLE 15' ROPE ~ 1905 PAT FARM FENCE BARN TOOL
Offered is a smaller block& tackle set consisting of two double-sheaved pulleys and about 15 feet of 5/16 inch Manila rope. It doesn't have a maker's mark. But does bear a 1905 patent date. These were commonly used for fencing or other light farm hoisting. The set has a locking mechanism that makes them pretty handy because they will hold tension on a pull. While the patent date doesn't indicate actual age, this is an older tool, likely dating to the early 20th century. I sold a very similar. But not identical set two weeks ago. That one had a different but also 1905 patent date. I also used 3/8 rope in that one. If you'd prefer larger rope, let me know and I will price it to you. Also, if you want the wire grab/hook removed, it will need to be heated and opened, or simply cut off. The pulleys are cast iron with steel ... morepins and sheaves. The whole works weighs about 3-1/2 pounds. Everything works just as it should. The locking mechanism is crisp and snappy. Gently cleaned and waxed. It has a warm dark patina. The rope is in pretty good shape with good spring and no bad spots. I've posted lots of pictures so you can look it over. Winner pays for USPS Priority in the USA. Neat antique Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon measuring 5 1/4" that has a likeness of 4 Miners working in amine shaft embossed in the front of its bowl. The handle is hollow and there is a rope with a weight at the bottom and a crank handle at the top. Engraved in the back of the top of its handle is STERLING. Item: Antique Nautical Block/Tackle Note: Currently as I write this listing. I have another larger Wooden Block/Tackle Pulley System listed separately. It is constructed of Wood/Metal. If interested in both(if both available) I will happily discount combined shipping. Description: For sale is an Antique SOLID METAL Nautical Double Block& Tackle System with Original Cork Floats and Hemp Rope. I’ve sold MANY Block& Tackle before but they were usually Primitive Farm Tools and were constructed of Wood/Metal. This one though is Pure Nautical with the Cork Floats still attached with the Original Hemp Rope. As for its age. The only claim I make with 100% Certainty is that it dates Pre-1960. It measures 21” Long and weighs 2.4 Pounds. The Block/Tackle Portion alone measures 7 ½” Long and accounts for most of the weight of course. I am ... moresure my photos will best further describe this item. Frankly. I do not like the way the Block& Tackle Pulley System is currently tied to the rope and I would like to see it hanging completely straight down. But. This is how I discovered the piece so I left it in its original condition. I suggest that if purchased(especially for decorative purposes) That you have the Pulley System hang straight down as shown in Photo#2. Condition: On a scale of 1– 10(Ten being MINT/New in Package) I can confidently grade this item’s condition to be a solid 8. Overall and Especially for being 50+ Years old and spending its life around Salt Air…this item is in Excellent Condition. The Block& Tackle Pulley System is Superb! It is fully functional with the only sign of age being some light“salting” on its surface. Absolutely Zero Rust! The Corks(5 of them) are each at minimum 90% complete. They are slightly dry but surely not falling apart especially if treated with respect for their age. Offered is an old cast malleable iron sliding swivel hook. These were generally used for hay hosting. But are handy for other work. They enable you to hook a chain or whatever else, without damage, at any point in a rope. The only mark on this one is"H.10B, and I don't know what that stands for. This is obviously an older item, likely dating to the first part of the 20th century. The hook is about 8-3/8 inches long and weighs about 1 pound. 3 ounces. The duckbill hook has a 3/4 inch throat. 8 pieces of older sheaves I believe were used to guide curtain strings. but maybe not? The pictures are not great but there are 5 ball bearings used to guide a rope. Antique Old Vintage Metal & Wood Industrial Barn Pulley & Piece of Braided Rope
14 years ago. My mother-in-law came to live with us. Recently widowed, she left her house as it was, came to Oregon and said she was never going back home. We told her we would pack her house up, pack EVERYTHING, and bring here for her to sort through at her pleasure. Her house was much like a museum. She was an avid and well known antique dealer and collector in Los Angeles in the mid to later 1900's. We moved over 700 boxes of items from her house. Along with many pieces of furniture. 1 of her pieces has been on the Antique Road Show. I built a 7000 sq. foot building to accommodate all her collections. She never opened a box. She died about 6 years ago. And we have just begun the process of going through the boxes ourselves. It is an arduous process. Some items will go to concession dealers. Some are given away, some things donated, ... moresome are kept and some things are offered here. I used to write a bit of the history at the beginning of each ad. I have decided to write this, and when a bit of provenance fits, I will include this introduction. These items were collected many years ago by a very sweet and knowledgeable lady. Wish she was here to tell me about each item we offer, but, I am on my own, and will do my best to describe. This an old vintage barn pulley. Often used with a hay trolley system. I have included a few pictures with a tape measure to show the size. The wood wheel is free and all works fine. The braided rope was on it when I unpacked it. I did trim the rope and wrapped tape around the end to prevent fraying. I am listing 3 vintage pulleys today. One is a Meyers Ok pulley which is vintage but in new condition. The other is marked 137L on it. And this one. The last photo show all 3. This auction is for the one described here. If you were to want more than one of these, I will combine shipping.

You get what you see! I am really not sure what it is. I believe a fence pulley or farm stuff, lol! Lots of markings. Pat Date of 1897, and one of Mar 1909? Some are numbered. I rubbed some vegetable oil on the markings to make them easier to read. That oil also picked up dog hair from my yellow who is shedding her winter coat. Sorry. Heavy! Together weighs 15#s. Love the item but not the price? Contact me with your best offer. Old Rustic Wood and Iron Double Pulley. This pulley is big. Heavy and full of rustic, industrial charm. The iron parts of this beautiful pulley have a complete rusty patina. The wood shows signs of heavy weathering and wear. The dark weathered staining, lighter color chips and cracked side show the incredible history of this piece. This pulley does show heavy wear as evident in the pictures. There is a metal name plate on one side of the pulley. But it is two rusty to read. The other side of the pulley does have a very deep crack which is pictured. This pulley is a fantastic decor piece. It will add a bit of drama to an industrial theme and would be quite at home in a country or cabin setting. 9 volt battery used to show scale.
