Original document dated 1761, Durham, Connecticut, where Robert Fairchild(then in Stratford) has decided to sell his shares of land on the Durham common to Captain Ebenezer Garnsey.signed at bottom by Robert Fairchild, Elihu Chauncey, Sarah Chauncey and on back by General James Wadsworth as clerk. Document is 9x12, folds, else in overall very good condition. Colonel Elihu Chauncey. The eldest son of Rev, Nathaniel Chauncey, was born at Durham, March 24th, 1710. He married Mary Griswold, daughter of Samuel Griswold, of Killingworth. He died April 10th, 1791. He was a gentleman of a strong mind. Of extensive reading and of much influence in the Town and the State. He acted as Colonel in the French war and was stationed on the Northern frontier; and such was the confidence reposed in him, that he was always invited ... moreto sit with the officers of the regular army, in the councils of war with the British officers. He was elected to the Legislature continuously. Thirty-nine years, with the exception of the year when he was in the northern army; in all seventy-six sessions. You are buying an antique Victorian hand stitched cotton Durham quilt. Pink florals to the top side on vanilla white ground. The reverse is a buff colour- the best representation of the true colours is in the last pic. This plain side has had some patchy fading/bleaching at two corners and a small tear on one edge- see all the photos. The floral side has no wear or damage. Small loss of hand quilting. It has hand stitched designs with mid weight cotton batting. Clean and ready for use with no stains or smells. Measures 88" x 88" and shown here on a standard double bed. This is a heavy quilt so overseas postage is expensive. It consists of a Durham Duplex Razor and case, a Rolls Razor with Case, 5 Gem Blue Blades with storage case, a bakelite Kings Men Shave Bowl with lid, a Fuller 100 percent pure bristle brush and a vintage talc container from Yardley, still contains remnants of the original invisible talc for men. There is a bit of fading on the words that say"King's Men Shave Bowl" Some rusty corrosion on the Rolls Razor blade and a bit of corrosion on the Yardley lid, it still slides though. This yearbook is done in black.A charcoal gray color, with an embossed, burgundy eagle on the front, as well as"1955 Eagle. This yearbook has 102 pages, plus ads in the back. For the age of this yearbook, it is in very good condition. It does have some wear and tear on the edges, but the pictures are in great condition. This yearbook was before the school was officially North Carolina Central University, and was called, North Carolina College at Durham.
