This is an exquisitely decorated and delicate. Very old Butter/Cheese keeper cover, it is round and domed. This may be Royal Derby or Durham. Very similar pattern and Imari style, not stating facts here as I can't identify! Dark Blue has almost a flow blue look and coloring with gold trim and red poppy like flowers with accents of green and yellow. Very fine work. Impossible pattern to find. These are the closest identifications I could find, no distinct markings. I do have it pictured with a saucer NOT THE BASE DISH! It isn't a perfect match and saucer has a crack in it. Rare Vintage Pepsi peanut pinch bottle Durham, N.C
I have a nice Pepsi Cola peanut pinch bottle. Made in Durham North Carolina. I used my flash with some of the pictures which makes it look a bit darker than it is. The main photo is the actual color of the bottle. I have tried to picture all the imperfections that it must have gotten through its many years. There is one chip on the outside that you can feel its small, there appears to be what look like small scratches and a few other chips that you cannot feel I'm guessing they're on the inside. Enrico Badia Romero(of Modesty Blaise and Axa fame) drew one episode(Children of the Night) in the Scarlet Apocrypha series, which was a seven-part series running in the Judge Dredd Megazine(4.15- Sept. 2002) This series featured a variety of artists that produced stand-alone tales of Durham Red. 1875-9 Knights of Pythias Durham. N.C. Antiquarian Ledger Suitably named for Nicotine's namesake is this Knights of Pythias Jean Nicot Lodge No. 19. Durham, North Carolina, meeting, minutes ledger from 1875-78; measures 7 3/4" x 11 1/2" leather spine, marbled boards. Listed are the members, including C.M. Herndon, after whom a park was named in Durham. Interestingly a Mr. Goldstein was admited to the K. of P. so they must have been reasonably"liberal" bent, this being the reconstruction South. The ledger starts March 27th 1875 and goes through 1878. There is a list of members(see 164-65) Interesting entry, page 111: Excursion train to the Centennial Celebration at Philadelphia carrying Knights and their friends, $10-$12 round trip. 1950s ESSO gas station award plaque and 8X10 b&w photo Bailey's Durham NC
I picked these up at a auction a few weeks ago. I was told both items are from Bailey's ESSO gas station in Durham NC. the award is dated 1954 and is for 20 years association. The picture is not in perfect condition. a small tear in the top and a couple bends in the corners and pin holes in where it was pinned to the wall. But its still a awesome snapshot of days of old. In the pic you can make out Baileys above the door. At this time I have the photo in a hard case top loader for protection and will ship it that way. The name plate is missing from the award unfortunately. Cool additions to any gas and oil collector or a man cave. I ship to the lower 48 only. Up for bid is a neat lot of vintage diecast miniature dollhouse furniture or toys. The globe. Spinning loom, the bowl are all signed Durham Industries 1976. The Copper pitcher is hand made& goes nicely with the bowl. The canon is actually a toy& is spring loaded to launch tiny projectiles. The barrel pivots& the wheels are plastic. No markings on the canon. The sewing machine has a sticker that says Schmid-Linder 6000 Lucerne Switzerland.
