The metal container is approximately 2 inches long and the red paint and lettering on the container is in good condition. There is some discoloration and tarnish on the bottom and also tarnish on the metal gold-colored end cap. Pins are in excellent condition with no rust evident.

The sunflower IRISH EYES is a dwarf plant that grows 2 to 4 feet and is loaded with multiple blooms that have pointed golden petals and contrasting green centers. It is a hit with container gardeners and looks good as an edging plant for gardens or borders. As cut flowers they can become the focal point in a vase of annuals. Sunflowers attract bees. Butterflies and birds Although they are an annual they will tolerate a light frost. They grow well in zones 4-9. The botanical name is Helianthus annus'Irish Eyes' IRISH EYES reaches maturity in about 60-75 days and needs rich soil for good strong growth. They prefer full sun but will tolerate light shade. Seeds can be planted outside or started indoors. Don't direct seed outdoors until the soil temperature is over 50 degrees F. Plant the seeds 1/4" deep. For container growing ... moreuse a 2 or 3 gallon pot. For ground seeding space the seeds 12" to 18" apart. For maximum production water frequently during the growing season. When starting your plants inside. Move them outside slowly to avoid sun scalding. Start with 30 minutes of full sun exposure per day and increase the exposure about an hour a day. Be sure to keep them inside if there is a danger of frost. Feed with a fertilizer in the spring after the new plants have grown two true leaves.
