In 1955. My father-in-law built a custom home in the Covina, California Ranchos and hired an interior decorator to select all of the furnishings for the new house. This coffee table was one of those furnishings. It was the centerpiece of the living room. Surrounded by a sectional sofa and easy chair, and over-looking the kidney-shaped pool in the backyard. Which is a natural part of the stone. The surface of the table is flat and shiny. As you can see in the photos. There are a few water spots and one water ring on the marble top. These are superficial and they can possibly be buffed or polished out. There is some wear on the base and brass feet. As you can see from the photos. There are no maker marks on the table base or top. Other than the number"500" stamped on both, which identified the pieces as a set. The marble top measures 60-inches long by 41.5-inches wide. This is a vintage Milo Baughman style Travertine table base that is unsigned and made circa 1960's. The Travertine is hollow in the middle but has thick walls and is very heavy weighing 112lbs. It measures 16" wide x 11 1/4" deep and 28 1/2" tall. The brass plated braces are 49 1/2" and 24" Condition is very good with some mild scratches and some small chips are the very corner of the base. The braces have some scratches and scrapes but overall look great. This is a very solid and substantial piece that is a little too heavy for Greyhound shipping so it will be packed and sent UPS freight. Thank you!

It is a Mid Century travertine and walnut end tableable which I believe to be by Bertha Schaefer. After doing some research it appears to be identical to some other Bertha Schaefers tables I've seen on my mid century modern auction sites and they say they were made in Italy for Singer and Sons. I love the way the wood portion of the table flares in and out to give it a wavy look.It has a heavy piece of marble/travertine top that is in excellent condition. The wood walnut portion of the table is in overall nice condition. The bottom shelf has two small bubbles in the wood. This is a super little buffalo that Zuni Vince Chavez carved from travertine. This piece of travertine is camel in color. This buffalo has a wonderful ruff. Horns carved naturally from the stone of the buffalo. His tail was carved switching along the right side of his butt and his head is lowered toward the ground. This buffalo is 1 3/8" long, and 1/2" wide and 7/8" tall. This is a perfect fetish to carry in your pocket as your own personal fetish. This is a badger that Zuni Alvin Haloo carved from travertine. This badger has a stripe of fur carved along the center of his back. A similar pattern appears along the badger's shoulders. Very well made. With superb mid century form, it rolls on brass wheels, with travertine bar top insert in top, unique brass door hardware and drawer inside. Open shelving on either side, both sides finished. Not only a superb piece stylewise and with an excellent pedigree, it is also the perfect medium size- it is a very well made substantial and heavy piece-but small enough to maneuver easily around the cocktail party! From Drexel's"Meridian" line- it is very similar in construction to the famous"Parallel" line as well. This piece dated 1963. Top is 44" x 18" 29" tall. It probably weighs 80 lbs. 3 vintage 1970s modern Italian travertine & brass cantilevered tables - Artide ?
Set of three vintage modern Italian travertine and brass cantilevered tables attributed to Artide ca 1970s. This set of two end tables and one coffee table is in overall excellent vintage condition. These are unmarked as far as I can tell but there are numerous examples online attributed to the Italian design company Artide. They are also in the style of Milo Baughman though I have not found any examples definitely designed by him. The bases are made of hollow cubes of travertine marble with brass plated crossbars embedded in their tops which support the beveled glass surfaces. The end table bases measure 11.75" l x 8" w x 19.75" h. The glass is about 3/8" thick so overall height is approx. 20.5" Both the glass tops and the bases are in overall excellent condition with few scratches to the glass and no chips that ... moreI could discern to either the tops or the bases. The coffee table base is about 13 7/8” square. Its beveled glass top is about39 3/16" square and 3/8" thick. It is therefore about 14.5” high overall. The coffee table base does have some minor chips at or near 3 corners of the base. Near one of these there is a shallow flake coming up from the edge of the base. These are not very noticeable when in use and should be barely noticeable if the table sits is on a plush rug for example. But they are there. The brass cantilevers have some scratches and/or tarnish, mostly to the top surfaces that the glass rests on.These may or may not polish out. The glass top has a few minor chips or nicks on the edges and does have some scratches to the surface but is still in very good condition considering its size and age. This is a mid century modern Travertine Console Table. This has a solid travertine top and the base is hollow but still a few inches thick on all sides. THIS IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. With only one owner. There was a 3" by 5" area that was broken and repaired months ago. Have had the table assembled since and it is sturdy and strong. Please see pictures 4 and 5) Other than that rest of the table is perfect. It is in the upper top side of the base and You can not see it unless you are under the table looking up.
