VTL Compact 100 These monoblock tube amplifiers were manufactured in about 1988 in California. Designed by David Manley. The design was warmly reviewed in Stereophile magazine. The amplifiers occasionally show up on the used market. But are quickly scooped up. Each amplifier is a monophonic. Independent chassis. This auction is for TWO amplifiers. The original IEC power cords are included. These are US-standard 110 volt units- no adapters needed. Each amplifier produces approximately 100 watts of RMS music signal. This pair had a short in one of the output transformers and was rebuilt by Audio-Video Specialties. Inc. in April, 2013. Both output transformers were replaced by Hammond 1650T transformers. These Hammond transformers have wider frequency response than the originals and sound significantly better. The Hammonds really let the amplifiers ... moresing. Note that each chassis had to be slightly modified to accept the larger Hammond transformers. While at the shop. All tubes were bench tested and all weak tubes were replaced by brand new ones that exactly matched the transconductance properties of the original set. This is a basic small vacuum pump. 120VAC 50/60Hz 0.11A 0.57 psig It is by Nitto Kohki Co. Ltd. or Medo Usa Inc. It is also better known as the heart of the Storz& Bickel Volcano vaporizers! The story is that I replaced it with a new one ordered at great expense and difficulty. Only to figure out that the pump wasn't the issue. It works exactly the same as the new one-that is-just fine. The problem was elsewhere. I might have tried to return it but for the difficulty of switching them again(I did not have the appropriate tools to work with the wires at their current size) As you can see from the pictures the power wires are cut to about 1 centimeter. This comes in the original box with the user's instructions as well.
