Penn Antique Restoration. 51"x82" Antique Chestnut Double Entry Doors w/Leaded Textured Glass. Gorgeous. Antique, double entry doors salvaged from a recently demolished church in Northeastern WV. Each door is made of solid chestnut and has 1 half-length window with 2 horizontal, recessed panels underneath. Also note that chestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Hardware: Besides 1 flushbolt. The doors are not equipped with hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our physical store. If you prefer. There were a few broken pieces of glass and the leaded skeletons of the lites were weak and falling apart. On top of that. Someone replaced the original glass with modern, green, slag glass. Since then. We've stripped the paint and sanded the doors. We took the lites to the local stained glass repair shop that we've been going to for years"Kasmark& Marshall" in Luzerne. PA, and they completely reworked them! They took out all of the glass from the lites and separated the old pieces from the new. They replaced all of the new pieces, with old pieces(many of which are no longer commercially available) and then encased them in a new, leaded skeleton. The work took weeks and cost over $900! Condition: The doors are strong. Sturdy, and in great structural shape! There are a few cosmetic blemishes(character marks) including some chips in the inner corners; there is a long, but shallow crack in the lower portion of the hinge stile on one of the doors; the molding around the glass was cut to accommodate the support bars of the lites; and there are 2 slivers of wood under one

Each door is made of solid cypress, and has a full-length lite and applied molding on the exterior side. Cypress is the wood of the South because of its rot-resistant quality. The doors were completely covered under many layers of paint. Since then, we've stripped the paint and sanded the doors. There were also some breaks. Each door is made of solid Douglas fir and has 10 windows. Unfortunately 1 glass lite is missing. So only 19 out of the 20 windows have wavy glass lites installed. We could either custom cut a new piece from our collection of old glass. Or we could order a new glass lite(i.e. beveled, tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install it- email us for a quote. Description This is a nice piece that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian home. Everything is made of pine and has been stripped to bare wood. Each door has a raised panel at the top and 3 raised panels at the bottom. There are matching stained glass panels. Each has 5 jewels. The transom has a coordinating panel of stained glass with 4 jewels. The doors measure 43.25 wide together. The transom being 43. The doors are 89.25 inches tall. The transom is 15.75 tall. The doors are just under 2 inches thick and the transom is 1.75. Overall they are in good co ndition. There are misc. scratches and dings as they are antique. They could use a good cleaning.
