Vintage Handmade Muskie Musky Minnow South Bend "Woodpecker" Lure - Great Hook!
Last vintage Musky lure I am auctioning this week. This one is clearly inspired by South Bend's Classic Woodpecker Bait. But, this one is designed for Musky, Pike or"large" Largemouth Bass Fishing. The form has character and the yellow and red paint scheme is pleasing. One nice aspect of this lure is the beautiful, weedless feathered treble the maker used to really set this bait off. Also, to me, the fact that it presents only one hook(solely the rear treble) also is visually different and appealing for this size of lure. Note the very wide collar which would really turn up the water if"popped" on the surface. This one's likely of interest and appeal to both fish and tackle collectors. VINTAGE CUSTOM SOUTH BEND SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD This auction is for a vintage custom refinished four piece 9’ South bend split bamboo fly fishing rod. There is no South bend label however the Comficient cork handle and lite lock reel seat are characteristic of a South Bend rod. It is likely a Model 57 or 59 based on the taper and action. Three sections measure 37” and the mid section is 35 ½” I would estimate the fly line weight to be a solid six. The aforementioned cork handle and reel seat are in very good functional condition. There are four snake eye guides on the mid section and five on each tip section. There is a stripper guide and hook keeper on the bottom section. All of the snake eye guides are new. The snake eye guide near the male ferrule on the mid section is missing a partial wrap but it is very tight. The rod fits ... moretogether perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a slight natural set in one tip section. The classic honey colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are awesome. The rod has a wonderful cane casting action and would be well suited on rivers tossing nymphs and streamer patterns. Vintage South Bend Four Piece Bamboo Fly Fishing Rod/Case/Sock Model 323!
Very nice vintage South Bend four piece bamboo fly fishing rod with metal tube and cloth sock for the fly fishing purist or collector. Very clean rod. Well taken care of by original owner. Sock is correct and in great shape. Nice label and stampings on the rod. Cork is good, a bit dark, but not missing any chunks etc. One tip may have been re-wrapped, but it is the correct length and not broken. Reel seat clean. Mechanism that screws the reel into place working. 8 1/2 ft rod. See the rod stampings for the rest of the details. Guides original. Sorry but the flash is going in my camera. Very nice old rod. 3 VINTAGE SOUTH BEND #550 CASTING REELS
Here is three vintage SOUTH BEND#550 Anti-Back-Lash casting reels. The first one is a Model"A" and it appears like it was never plated just a dull brass finish that needs polish. One knob of the handle is missing and the other knob has some pieces broken off, and both oil caps are missing but the reel works. The second one is missing the line guide and both oil caps and two screws, this reel is a Model"G" The third reel is a Model"E" and there is a ruby missing from the left oil cap but the reel works great. Obviously all three are in need of cleaning and lubrication after years of non use.

Nice vintage South Bend#957 red and white 5 1/4" Pike-Oreno wooden floating/diving plug in the original box. 100% original and authentic! Lure is in very good condition with one nick toward the back(not through the paint) and 2 small"tooth" marks near the front. Paint is chipped around the metal hook rings exposing some bare metal. Raised yellow eyes, hammered metal lip with steel wire connector and two treble hooks, all in great shape. South Bend/ Pike-Oreno" in gold letters behind the eyes. Original box is still in good shape- 100% intact- no rips or tears- shows normal wear. 957 RW is printed on one end of the box. This is a great looking lure. The maps show much details including towns, townships, sections, quarter sections, schools, some houses and other details. On ... moresome maps there are surveryor signatures and script that were printed in the plate, many of these maps were originally procured from the Nebraska Survey offices and reproduced for the atlas. The maps were first printed by lithographic process and then the color washes were hand applied, often with stencil for the large fields of color, over which the outlining was done by freehand, with an occasional hint of a brushstroke. The result is a very beautiful rare early map. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed being sold as a double sized elephant folio sheet as seen in the pics, photographed against a dark background. There are maps and town plans on both sides as seen, so if framing one would have to choose a side to frame. Overall, a very nice rare example hard to find, especially in this Condition. Size: The entire page measures 17 1/2 by 28 1/2 inch with the map image area slightly smaller as shown in the pic with a margin all around. Condition: It is in Very Good or better condition printed on a light buff page with a centerfold as issued. It is basically as seen in the pics. VINTAGE SOUTH BEND 7'6" SPLIT BAMBOO SALTWATER ROD, MODEL 2V6022, EXC. COND.
This no-reserve auction features an ultra rare. Circa 1930s, South Bend 7-1/2 foot split bamboo saltwater rod in excellent overall condition. It's a heavy duty one-piece rod with an extremely rare dowel-style handle, and it has a knurled nickel silver male ferrule on the butt end of the rod section(indeed, a dowel-style handle is even rare on vintage Heddon saltwater rods, with only the heavy duty no. 44"Reef Rod" having one) The South Bend model number, 2V6022, was hand written in black India ink by the maker at the factory, and the South Bend decal is wholly in tact, with only a couple of fish scales appearing over the top of it. The handle section measures 21-3/4" has a metal butt cap affixed, and the wooden portion was made of stained oak. The up-locking heavy duty reel seat has an outside diameter of 1-1/16" and ... moreis chrome plated. The fore grip is also made from stained wood and measures 5-1/4" The one-piece split bamboo rod section has an overall length of 69-1/8" is straight, and the male ferrule on its butt end was made of knurled nickel silver(please see the last picture) Moreover, the ferrule fits very tightly into the handle section. As noted above, the overall length when assembled is 7-1/2 feet. The guides appear to have been made of plated nickel silver, and they are all present and in great shape. The rod is also entirely factory original, including its varnish. The original blood-red silk guide wraps are all there, too, but two of them have become brittle with age and have come undone. They could easily be rewrapped, though. The bamboo of the rod section is in excellent overall condition with no cracks, gouges, or delamination. Simply put, I don't think a finer example of this ultra rare saltwater rod could ever be found, and it is apparent that it didn't see much use. This rod would also make an excellent big-fish freshwater rod-especially for strippers or big cats-and it is definitely cast-able. The winning bidder agrees to pay a flat economy rate of $20.

South Bend Spin Cast No.66 Reel with Box and Parts Diagram/Brochure VINTAGE
This is a SouthBend Spin Cast No. 66. It comes with the original box which is in fair to poor condition. The thumb button has a chip out of it. The brochure has some water damage to it. The reel also has a red line painted on the side. Not sure if it just needs some TLC and a good thorough cleaning or is only salvagable for parts. Vintage 1950's SOUTH BEND No. 291 Fishing Rod 7-1/2' 4/1 Split Bamboo MINT CONDITION CIRCA 1950 SOUTH BEND NO.291 7-1/2 FT. 4/1 SPLIT BAMBOO FLY"PACK" ROD WITH THE ORIGINAL LABELED BAG& FIBER TUBE" The No.291 was introduced by the South Bend Bait Company after WWII. As evidenced by the rectangular"SOUTH BEND- A Name Famous In Fishing" rodshaft decal and sold until about 1952. Only available in the 7-1/2' 4/1 configuration, the No.291 was basically a 4-piece version of the No.290 and remains the only"pack" rod I know of produced by South Bend. Rodshaft is also stamped"E or HDH" near the decal and"291- 7-1/2' on an opposite flat. The"E or HDH" is the old line weight designation equivalent to today's modern 5 or 6 wt. lines. This beauty is built with quality ... morelight Tonkin cane and comes equipped with ss stripper, tungsten steel snakes, satin-chromed welted& serrated ferrules, flip-ring hook keeper, metal winding check, solid cork"Comficient" grip, screw-locking anodized aluminum reel seat and nicely wound in olive green silk tipped in red. Again, these were never available with an extra tip section. The entire rod. Case and tube is in superb condition! Does not look to have been used at all- excellent condition A beautiful example of this post-war"suitcase" model from South Bend and one that is not often seen for sale- in the very desireable length and convenient configeration. Selling South Bend Model C No. 850 PERFECTORENO STAINLESS STEEL FISHING REEL This reel has a"more less" tension dial on the left end of the reel. The right end is where the crank is. It looks to be ivory twisters, aged ivory color any way, no cracks or dark discoloration. under the t handle there is a five pointed handle, and a flip toggle I think for locking the reel after casting. I think it is a very nice reel. It has an all metal spooling guide the evenly distribute the line as it is reeled in.
