These units are scarce and this one is in excellent shape. Mill spindle is mounted in bearings that are"like new" with no slop whatsoever and turns smoothly. Quill also moves up and down smoothly but very firm. There is no return spring like on a drill press. The quill tension is adjusted with 2 nuts and a wave washer. You can adjust the tension from none to so hard you can hardly move the quill. The black knob on the right side of the head is a quill lock. And will lock the quill in any position from fully seated to about 2" down in depth. There is a depth stop on the left hand side of the head that uses a steel scale for depth adjustment that ... morehas both 1/32” and 1/64” scales. The entire Mill head will move up and down to adjust the height in relative position to the cross slide on the lathe. At the highest position(about 16" high) there is about 4.5" from the top of the cross slide to the bottom of the mill chuck. At the lowest position. The mill chuck will go all the way down to the lathe bed. You can see from the photos that a mill table bolts to the top of the 109 cross slide. Again. The mill table is not included in this auction. They are hard to find, so you will have to make something on your own if you can’t find one, or you can modify a mill vice to directly bolt to your cross slide. Also note that the Craftsman 109.21270 has a completely different cross slide system, so you are on your own if you have this lathe. Mill has a round flange at the bottom for bolting adjacent to your lathe. The mill chuck is BRAND NEW and mounts on the mill’s JT33 tapered spindle. The handle knob is not stock as the originals had round knobs as far as I know. Sherline CNC Lathe 4400B Package Used
This is a Sherline 4400 CNC Lathe. This unit operates on 2 axis only. I purchased this CNC in February of 2012. It has some wear marks on the metal and some dings on the top of the head stock(see Photo) The morse bit is relatively new and the tail stock that holds it has been modified as the original design gave out from being over tightened. It works very well but you can replace with original oem parts if you desire. The rail is in good shape and does show signs of being used. The machine was used. The motor brushes will need replacement sometime in the near future as they were wearing last time I checked. These are inexpensive and easy to replace.The existing are the originals. This unit has operated flawlessly with minimal major maintenance(tail stock and belts really) I clean and lube it after every use. I've added risers to the ... morehead stock and tail stock so you can fit a larger piece of stock in the chuck.These are original Sherline parts. This is also a 4 jaw chuck. I ordered it that way. Three jaw chucks are available from Sherline or even on ebay. The drive screw is in good condition and was cleaned after every use. I have spare parts. Including a cutting tool holder and steadier, as well as fuses for the mother board. The servos have never given me an ounce of problems. This is the longest of the Sherline lathes available. It can also be converted to a 4 axis milling center. As I've noted the condition is used but this machine has always performed great for me.
