It is in very good condition with only a little tarnish to show for many years of storage and a little use. It has the original 3/4-1/2" bushing and four sets of cutters. The set in the head is set"B" or No. 251 and is used. The other three sets are NOS and are"A" or No. 250. Up for sale is a classic Sheldon Shaper. It is not a wood shaper but a metal shaper with a 1 ½ HP 3 phase motor and 12” of travel on the slide. I purchased it several years back for a shop I was building but moved before I had a chance to finish the shop so I never used it. I did however see it in operation through its full 12” travel when I purchased it and everything worked just fine but since I have no way of hooking it up. It will be sold as is. Here’s a very unique piece. This machine was built exclusively to make custom rosettes– FAST. It is surplus from a custom interior millwork shop that closed. Basically. A Porter Cable 1002/ 22.000 RPM Router is attached to a Thompson Linear Ball Bearing. Vertical slide actuated by a Speedaire Air Cylinder to yield a smooth, regulated plunge. The workpiece is held to a 15” dia. rotating turntable with an adjustable, fast acting, clamping jig. The turntable is variable speed and driven by a Dayton Gearmotor and Speed Control. The whole cycle is automatic once the operator presses the“2” cycle start buttons- all motion stops and router returns“up” upon release of buttons. Very nicely made– definitely the work of a machine builder. I know cause I am one. Replacement cost is near $50 per inch. My knives generally sell for around $3-$6 per inch at the end of the auction. All my knives can combine shipping if the price exceeds $20 U.S. addresses only.
