The shaft also seems modified because it has a back-cut appearance to it. I’m not sure if it came that way our remanufactured for checking purposes. The barrel turns freely but the shaft has a little up-and-down movement. It has a little rust on it but w e haven’t tried to clean it. Leaving it for someone who knows what they are doing. NUMBER 145: This micrometer has not been altered in any way. The barrel turns freely but the shaft does have a little up-and-down travel. However. It is not as much as its twin. I feel some resistance at some points when rotating the thimble, which may be something getting stuck in the digital readout mechanism. Includes plastic case and instructions. Serial number 4054416.
