The insignia plate shows Niagara Stamping- Tool Co Builders- Buffalo NY USA T able dimensions: 37 inches wide by 15 inches deep by 31 inches high. The item weighs about 350 lbs. It is easily disassembled into it's component pieces for handling. Transport, refurbishment(work table piece, side legs, heavy foot pedal, the various linkages and bars, etc. Can be tuned-up for shop use(or maybe fully restored for an industrial museum piece? Niagara 562 Power Sheet Metal Shear 5' Wide w/Motor & Safety Switch Ready to Use
This is a used Niagra No. 562 power sheet metal shear. I do not know its exact age. But we have had it for over 35 years. It has been used in a small sheet metal shop for relatively light duty. It has not been used regularly for several years, but is in working condition. The blade has approximately 65-70% of its sharpness left based upon an estimate of use vs. when it was sharpened. The blade is 64" long, the work surface is 69"L x 15.5" deep and has an angle iron extension that is bolted onto it to assist with sheet feeding. As shown in the photo, there is also a narrow metal bench rigged up on the left side of the shear to assist in sheet feeding. It is able to be removed and won’t hinder removal. The angle iron extension goes with the equipment, but the metal bench may or may not be able to be used in a new setup so it ... moreis at the buyer’s discretion whether they want it. It is currently powered by a 240V circuit with the Square D fused Safety Switch shown and a Dayton 1.5 HP. 208-230V/10A, 1725 RPM motor model#5K923F. The flywheel has belts connected to the motor pulley. The electrical wiring may need some updates to conform to any applicable OSHA/NEC codes, but it works as is. There is a fluorescent light fixture on the shear that may be taken with it. To the best of our knowledge, this is a 16 Ga. capacity machine. We have never used it for anything heavier. There is one flaw to the frame: an old cold weld on the right leg as shown in the photo. This weld has held with no problems the entire time we have had it and for many years prior to that according to the person that this equipment was purchased from. The legs are fastened to 2 oak planks. Auction includes the Safety switch currently mounted on the wall, the motor and the shear. It is rated at 16 gage mild steel. Blade seems sharp. Table has some stains but is smooth. Paint is chipped and faded. It was tested on some 18 gage and cuts good. There is a crack on the motor base adjustment that has been repaired. It has a 4" flat belt drive. The gear drive makes a little noise. It weighs at least 4000 lbs. 3HP currently wired 480v but can be changed to 240v. It can be inspected under power in my shop. Flat belt will slip a little but still cuts fine. Milwaukee Tool 18 Gauge Metal Swivel Head Shear Trimmer
Motor still running strong. Cleaned all of the old grease out of the gear box and replaced with fresh grease. Not sure of exact model. The only issue I could find is that the blades do not cut as good as when they were new. The action blade does not seem to travel up and down as much as once before. Its slow going but they did manage through metal downspouts(last item they were used on) Possibly a replace ment set would be what is needed.
